New member here. Thought I'd post some pics from the past season. It was my first year in business.

Nice work but I highly doubt that a person in their first year could do a job like that!

Thats a good sized job, but you'll need more close ups and installation picks like drainage and base to get applauded. I do see something wrong. The front landing appears to have a reverse banter. Is it my eyes?

This is our first year in business. We are experienced though. Was sick of making my boss money.
For base we diesel plated sub-base then threw down green line and added 1' of base for foundation of wall and 60 ton of GA infill..Also used GeoGrid. As for banter I thought I saw the same thing when completed, but checked with my 4' and its just in the eyes.

Sheesh - I would have had to return. That's alot of modified its holding back, even with grid .
haha, "was tired of making your boss money" . just wait. hire employees, buy equipment, then you start the expenses. stuff starts breaking with the most common response being "i dont know what happened" . stay small, then you dont have to deal with AS MUCH b.s. looks good though for a first project

Looks like you've used celtik block and your pin location is not far enough back. Likely you've ended up with a wall facing forward. To many straight lines in the back yard, no soldier course. Good luck with your business, who did you work for before? I know most the guys in Ottawa.

Theres no sub base... just base. Think you meant Subgrade. There could be a sub base under a base, but thats only if you past first base and make it to second base. :dizzy:

Pins were fine. Celtik product was terrible this year. As for the back yard, the lines and no soldier course were at the customers request. I tried to change their minds, but you know how it goes, I'm sure. Where abouts in eastern ON are you located.

You ran a stacked bond in the back. Nothing wrong with that. You have edging so really no need for soldier only for looks.

It shouldn't come as a surprise, but Celtik has been "terrible" for many years. If you want a great product with minimal waste "canlok" is the place to go.

i think i will stick with my Pavestone or Keystone. I know it may not be your first choice where you are at, but it is either Pavestone, Keystone, Belgard or Unilock and i don't care for Unilock and Belgard has had its fair share of problems. Actually i get a really good product from Pavestone and use them most often.

Matt, we were in Pavestones Midwest catolog a year or two ago. It was great, except they didn't have our name or location printed in it. Hope techo treats you guys better.

I never seen a company name listed in a catolog. I think it be nice if they did list names even if it was on the back page, in small print, upside down.

why 1" of sand? just for setting the base course? I thought is was screening to be used, but maybe I'm wrong and the margin was +-1/2 inch for walls?

Sub = "below" right. so that would be "below base" or "Under the base". just a thought. it doesn't mean much.
Plus first base and second base, i don't roll over unless she is talking 3rd base. LOL.

sorry to hijack but regarding getting in catologs, the new ('08) Techo Catolog has 7 pictures of our jobs in it. the back cover is one of our jobs from this year. its great to brag about, but if they listed the photo credits and web addresses of the contractors, it would be a great marketing tool.

Home owners decided, but invoiced the builder.
