Does anyone know if I may switch an engine from a JD 170 rider, same FC420V 14 hp I think, to a HD 45 Walk Behind. Has the same shaft size, length, width and keyway. Not sure if the bolt pattern will be the same to the deck? Also had electric start, need to switch out with pull? Can any one help me Code of the 170 Engine FC4202-DS00.

The engine will bolt right on, Does the WB have manual or electric PTO ? What about the rider ?

They both have electric PTO's, I think this will work?

From what I can tell the 170 engine has a fuel cut-off solenoid on the carb but the HD 45 doesn't due to no battery/electric start.
Swap carbs from one to the other or remove the fuel cut-off solenoid and snip the brass end off as short as possible then re-install. This was used to prevent back firing on shut down but won't make that much difference.
