How much does it end up costing you guys when you get your truck inspected? Got mine done today and it was 640, I had a bunch of little things. Luckily I saved a little by doing the emergency brake pads myself. I also have to take it back so a sensor can reset. :dizzy:

I have my oil changed every 3k by my mechanic. While its there he always checks all lights looks around for potential problems and the like. Doing this there are never any surprise repairs. I also have all my trucks inspection due the same month , that way when I see 1 needs to be done I know they are all due. Its in Feb when I have time to do it .

That's what I'm wondering. Sounds like front brakes. Most expensive thing that ever needed replaced was the crank position sensor. And Chevy had to cover that. :)

State inspection here is $29. Commercial vehicles with a gvw in excess of 10,000 # are also required to have federal inspection (dot) $150.

Inspection here is $15. But they have changed the personal property taxes. All you got to do is bend over!!!!!!!:dizzy:

Its not that old only a 2003. Haven't had one problem with it yet. It went down to 450 because I did the emergency brake pads myself. I had to have a solenoid replaced that was $175= $58 labor, Diagnose the check engine light cost $50! Then I had to have both rear drive shaft u joints replaced which added $140! I trust this place because thats where my dad takes all the trucks at his work too. But I might be going somewhere different next year.

U joints are kinda a biggie. Not a hard job but kinda labor intensive. What solenoid did it need? Thats a big ticket right there. Can't imagine a starter solenoid costing that much.

I don't take my cars to inspection before I go through it myself, I'm usually pretty sure it will pass but the last time cost me $160...
That was the first time in years it cost more than the standard $15.

As for the $50 check engine light diagnosis fee, it's worth it.
Do you know how to do it?

And it was probably the EGR solenoid.

I had run the check engine light a while ago, my dad plugged in the little computer. The solenoid had some thing to do with the emissions, I am going back tomorrow so they can check it after I rode on it some. Then they will put on the emissions sticker

Sometimes the light is just something simple sometimes its more complicated. They charged me another $60 to check it after I drove it for a week and to put the sticker on!
