Scotts annual programs versus local University. Is the Scotts annual program<br>that good or not. How many applications are really right.<p>

You'll start an 80 post thread here.<p>Go with your local university. Scotts has very knowledgeable professionals, but they can't give all the info for every area.<p>As far as the number of applications that are really right? So many factors. On a clay site, 2 slow-release fertilizers maybe fine for a whole year. A sandy site may take 6 fertilizer applications. There are so many other factors such as organic matter content, type of fertilizer used, etc., etc.

Lazer is correct. Look into your local county extension or University for help. <p>The dates differ because of loads of variables. Different zones have different species of grass and each zone will have different soil temps at different times. This causes variations in fertilization programs and timing. I could go on and on.

Lazer I lived in Rochester Hills, MI. <br>Lots of money up there.<br>A lot of golf courses advertise to be on the scotts program.<br>Cool grasses here are: spring and twice in fall. no late spring or summer

lawnnut,<p>The 3 fert. applications as stated are fine for many lawns. On sandy soils, it will be inadaquate. Also, if you'e doing fertilizer/weed control only, it's tough to make money on a 3 app. program.
