View Full Version : Bought me a new truck

I bought me a new Silverado this week.:)

2000 LS Ext Cab Long Bed, K1500, LS with leather.

First new truck since 1987. WOW are they nice. Not the truck I was looking for but couldn't pass this one up. A little too fancy for a work truck but nice when off duty.;)

We all know how Chrysler Corp. pioneered the heated windshield grids below the wipers, to keep them free of ice, and Ford pioneered the rear window defroster grids for the same reason. Now Chevrolet has come out with a heater grid for your bumper to keep your hands warm while pushing it to the shop lol.

Way to go dhicks!

That is the truck I wanted with the exception of Extended cab instead of Crew.

One of my customers' has one and I love it but I think I will run this 1500 for a while and if I start hauling larger tractors I will jump up to the big one.

Thanks MOWED, It is a shame not everybody has good taste like us:D LOL

Sorry I messed up the names:o

chevy is the way to go! by the way, the saying "like a rock" means as hard as a rock, not as motionless as one!:D

All you Chevy guys are as slow as your trucks! Look how long it took you to respond compared to the Ford guys! :D

11-02-2001, 10:13 PM
Well, GM and Chevy trucks have never let me down and been great investments. I guess that I'll be a Chevy truck man until proven otherwise.

It isn't the "speed", its the torque Guido.

A big rig driver like u should know that:D

Congats CP! I am also the proud owner of a 2000 LS EXT. Cab Silverado! Had it for two years now....and knock on wood...there has not been one thing negative to say on my end. I only wish that I purchased a 2500 or 3500 series now that I'm in this business....

11-02-2001, 11:54 PM
Sorry so slow respondin' Guido - was out towing a buddy of mine's FORD home with my Chev! ;)

As a matter of fact, to let you know I'm serious, I'm not welding another thing until my boss mounts all my equipment onto a REAL truck.... A FORD TRUCK! the Heartbeat stops here! ;)

Glad to see your finally coming to your senses Rob!

Hmmmmm............... It appears that my previous post has been "selectively interpreted"!........ 'Course, that's my fault for not being clearer: I towed it to HIS home for HIS use! :p

As far as work goes, I cannot tell a lie - I HAVE been running the "F-word" quite a bit recently, but that's different: It's a big 'un! (F800)

And cp - nice set of wheels you got yourself! One of my co-workers just got himself a Silverdao 1500 this week.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all congrats and especially the sticks from the other guys. I'll try and get some pics on soon..

Now I got to decide what tractor to get but my wife told me if I buy anything else she is going to leave me.

Oh well, i'm going to miss her..:)

I'd like to buy me one of those new Chevys myself but just can't find anywhere in the budget for all the repair parts I'd need then.

11-16-2001, 07:50 PM
Just wondering how the chevy been going for you so far?

11-16-2001, 08:03 PM

Your truck ain't classy unless it's weaing a bow tie :)

No realy, i do feel bad every time I see those Fords and Dodges, but i just don't have enough time to pull all of them of the side of the road.

11-23-2001, 11:15 AM
I know ford- chevy -dodge truck owners rag each other ,but what
is important is when you bought one of these youve bought a truck that is american or canadian made with uaw laboror or caw labor .I naturally prefer chevrolet because
1 I worked 30 years with them
2 I get a 20% discount
I have to admit i have been a traiter and bought a ford and it was a good truck but i got no discount
One more point it is not inconceiveable if the foreign brands keep takeing market share that one or two of the big three could disappear .ford has its lowest cash reserves in years and may not be able to fund future product development .Just think haveing no ford or dodge chevey on the road it is something to think of when you buy

Take care of it.

If you want a long lasting dependable truck go with chevy...I havn't had any major problems with my '89 1/2 ton silverado. If I ever get a new one, I probably get a 2500hd. One question...does anyone have a 2001 or 2002 2500 or 3500? If so, why not step up to the HD?

11-24-2001, 11:04 PM
Oryan i have the 3500 hd with duramax on order. looking for it any time now .my dad has the 3500 2000 model he doesnt use for lawn biz but he pulls a heck of a big boat to mississippi and texas 2 sometimes 3 times a month from the chicago area and has put over 36000 in less than a year .when he pulls that monster boat its like nothing back there thats now much torq this suckers got and the ride is almost like my caddilac

partner i thank you for your chevrolet indorsement. but like i said in a previous post buy american, even if it is ford or dodge but im certinally happy you prefer the bowtie

11-26-2001, 11:27 PM
odin00, truck is doing great! Thanks for asking.

Pulled my 20' Chaparral boat the first weekend I never knew it was back there. Pulling the utility trailer no problem and the ride is GREAT...

Very Nice, getting about 14.5 mpg pulling trailers and around 18.0 without..

11-26-2001, 11:43 PM

Glad the bowtie is being good to you they are truley like a rock
