I made these with the only options vista print had (for the price) and I can get 1,000 for $20.00. Two things Im worried about is it doesnt look anything like the door hangers or logo that Im trying to portray, and it doesnt have any services listed other than "Landscape Management". I plan to use these as a source of advertisement rather than just a phone number reference. What do yall think? Should I pay the extra for the nice ones?

Yeah...I think you should pay a little more for something you feel comfortable handing out.....I have ordered cards from vista print in the past and they were o.k. at best....didn't feel comfortable handing those out because of the "cheap" feel and look.I just received my new cards from Office Depot 1000 for $23.00 and they have a ton of options & colors for you to choose from.....hope this helps:drinkup:

I would feel comfortable handing them out. Only thing is that my logo isnt on them and the colors are different from the door hangers and flyers I will be passing out. Do you think this really matters? Do you think I should upgrade based on what that card looks like?

I just got some the other day from vista print. I designed them myself and they turned out very nice, although the paper is a little light. Definatly pay to have a good card designed over using a template card.

Did you put your logo on them or did you make a new one using there designs?

No, I do graphic art for a living. I designed it and uploaded my own design. Had my own logo, text, background, picture, etc. I'll see if I can scan one tomorrow and post it up for ya.

I design my cards and upload the design to vistaprint. Much better that way.
You can also go to a local designer and sit down with them and get exactly what you want and it will look very professional.

Business cards represent you and the services that you can perform. I have actually had my friends tell me that they throw cheap business cards away. They said that if someone is in business for themselves, then they should have quality cards. How can they have a wafer thin cards and say that they do quality work. These people actually critique business cards amongst other things. Sorry, these people are part of my mentoring team and I take what they say serious. ALL of them are self-made millionaires.
So, do yourself a favor and invest in quality cards if you do quality work.

I appriciate all of the comments. I went ahead and designed my own card through Print master. I tried uploading it to Vista print and it says its an incompatable file type. The card is saved as a .biv I think. How do I make it .JPG or something else that is compatable?

Pay a few dollars more so that you have a consistent image.

I think that you can design some that look, no offense, a little more professional per say. I design and print my own. I've gotten compliments on how they look.

Well, I am not crazy about the free estimates thing. It's a business card, not a door hanger or an ad. I think a business card should do a couple of things. make it clear what you do,and your business name by itself should convey that. Name, contact info, title (perhaps) and no advertising. It is something that you want to be able to give to non-cutomers too. Suppliers, vendors, industry contacts. Just the facts maam, in the words of an old TV show detective. Do your selling elsewhere. It should be on thick stock, and convey a quality image. For another 30 bucks, you can buy them locally from a print shop. Pick out your stock, make sure it all works well together.

I have that exact picture on my older bussiness cards. I've also recently seen another guy with the same background on a card in my barbers shop. That should tell you enough right there.
Spend the extra and get custom cards made up. Mistake that i learned from last year and will correct this year.

I have a friend who's wife owns gatekeeper graphics and can make web pages, business cards, flyers, etc that are professional not something made from home these are really nice and she is very reasonable. You can check it out on her website. Go to google type in gatekeeper graphics and follow the link, she is located in Maryville TN but I think she can work with email to get the design you want, just ask her.
