Do you guys pay your employees weekly, or biweekly? I like bi-weekly because most of my accounts pay me monthly and it helps with my cashflow.

Weekly, but for no good reason, just been that way for 7 years. I think if I changed it now, they would freak out.

on the 1st and the 15th, an I think its good for most. It teaches you how to budget your money carefully. A lot of guys still live paycheck to paycheck, but atleast they make it that far.
It might get some of your guys into trouble if they can't manage their money correctly.

I prefer every 2 weeks, that way payday is the same day every time, no variables for long months, etc.

As an employee of the US Government, and the military more importantly, I have no say in when or how they pay me so you just take it as they give it. I've learned to work it out so it works for me, no choice but to adapt.
How do your employees that are paid every 2 weeks respond to that at first? Is it a concern of theirs at all?
When I did work for "the man" I was always paid weekly, so I don't know what people think about getting paid on any different terms than that. I'm just curious.

Most don't care.
I have had a few that wanted it weekly. And I had one who wanted to be paid on Friday afternoon for the hours worked that same week. Told him I don't have time for that, learn to live with every two weeks, one week after hours worked.
The same guy wanted OT for hours over 8 for each day. I told him I'd be within the law to average the hours over 2 weeks and not pay OT unless the 2-wk total was over 80. So, take my 40+ OT/wk and smile.

Pay weekly on Friday afternoon after end of shift. Sometimes will pay on Thursday if not going to be working on Friday. Vacation, holiday etc. Week starts on Friday.

We do weekly paychecks for all our employees until Deceber 1st till March 31st they are all on a set weekly salary for plowing services during those months and go back to hourly rate April 1st.
Monthly ... advance available ( for whatever amount is wanted...as long as it's not for more than hours worked) halfway.
Advance is then deducted from Monthly wage.

Every Friday. Always a week behind, that way I have a week to due payroll BUT I usually do it Thursday evening! That paying a week behind does help me when I go on vacation though.
pay period starts on Friday to Thursday. Then you are paid the following Thursday for that week. We pay every week, becasue like one guy said before... some of these guys live pay check to check and request weekly pay.

Week to week. Monday to Saturday, paid following Thursday. We use Paychex So all i have to do is add up the hours on Monday morning, call paychex with the totals (takes about 30 sceonds) and they deliver the checks to us Thursday morning.

We pay every other Friday, so 26 pay periods a year. Payroll runs 12:00 am Monday through 11:59 pm Sunday.
They get paid the following week on Friday. So, typical pay period is Mon thru Friday, Mon thru Friday - get paid the following Friday.
We use Paychex for payroll processing. Report hours on Monday, get checks Tuesday or Wednesay, give them out on Friday.
No exceptions... you don't get paid late, you dont' get paid early. No complaints either!
When we went from one week to the two week pay period - there was some grumbling. Regardless, it's the same amount of money either way. Besides, I think employees do better with every other week than paying every Friday. They tend to budget their money slightly better. No reason for me to be a crutch for them.

From an administrative standpoint, paying every two weeks just makes things easier, simpler, and cheaper.
You are cutting the number of times you handle the process in half, you probably will pay less for processing if you use Paychex or ADP or other service since you will use their services less often.
Once your employees get used to being paid biweekly they will be ok with it.
I don't have employees, but from dealing with people and other businesses payrolls at the accounting firm, every 2 weeks is my preference.
