I would like to hear some opinions on this as well. I have been thinking about a conversion dump bed.

i was told you can't have a dump on a pickup and pull a trailer you can't both. we use a easyloader on our pickup and it works great. and costs around $200 www.loadhandler.com

Lowrider guys have been doing it for years. :) I like it as well and would love to hear if people have done it and what they think.

How well does the dragsheet hold up? Do you ever have problems with the dragsheet sliding out from under debris and not unloading it?

i tryed installing one from nothern tool and i got the bed off and nothing fit! man was i p!ssed. yes it is true you cant tow if you install one of these because you weld the bumper and bed to a bracket. if you want a dumper get an insert. btw this was on a f250 shortbox

I use the ez dumper I used the load handler for years and it sucked. Worked well for grass and stone but would lock behind the wheel wells if it got packed back there. It would not do leaves either it would roll right underneath. I like the ez dumper works very well.

i don't see a problem with towing as long as you use an actual tow hitch (like drawtite) that mounts to the frame. the thing i don't like about that is if you ever get a new truck you will probably have to get a new dump as well. with the ez dumper it's as simple as unbolting it and bolting it into your new truck. sounds like a good deal though as long as you are going to keep you're truck for the long haul.

the bumper doesnt clear the receiver with the bed up.

How does the loadhandler work with mulch??? I have been looking at a dump lately also but it really sin't in the budget this year. I have seen the loadhandler being used but never had a chance to talk with the company that was using it. My main use for it would be mulch.

not so great with mulch, you have to shovel about 40% off before it will move....

i'm sure you know what you're talking about since you've used one and i haven't, however i'm would think a skilled welder would be able to fabricate one that would clear it, or do you have to cut off part of the frame to install it?

go with ez dumper. if you want to make your truck bed dump you will have to be able to weld and cut to make the kit work i have only seen 1 but it was crap. i cant remember about towing but the one i saw you had to raze bed up to fill truck with gas.

It doesn't the mulch will not come out. If the load gets behind the wheel wells it done....

I've used a loadhandler for 2 years now, best $100 I ever spent. A dump insert would be ideal but is gonna start at about 1600$, and when you use mulch chances are you'll be wheelbarrowing it around anyways, take a few loads then the whole thing dumps out. Sure its not a dump bed but it turns a 20 minute unload into 5 or less. And with leaves I roll it out all the way onto the roof then it doesn't slide under the leaves.

Don't get me wrong I'm saving up for a dump insert and if you already have a 1000$ i'd find another $1000 and get the insert but if your a small timer and have other needs for your money it's worth it. No matter how much FRUE hated it and bashes it he still used the thing if that says anything.

I used it for grass worked well for it! You will see when you get a dump bed you will kick yourself a hundred times. My matt got tore up it also freyed at the edges and you cant forget the damage to the tailgait. I do not recomend these things.
Her is my problem with it. It never realed in perfect so I had to spend time getting untangled not all the time but sometimes. I always had to jump on the truck to clean behind the wheel wells always. I found that a tarp with leaves on top was quicker. Set a chain set up at your dump spot hook the chain to a tree the other end up to the tarp pull away well la leaves are dumped.
I will say it did unload grass very well. Not a hater just trying to get him to see the big picture I waisted 2 years on it when i should of been trying to buy a insert. Pull up open the gate hit a button and your dunn. It takes more time to open the gate then it does to dump. just my 2 cents.

Trust me I want a dump insert. I'm just saying to consider where hes at now (which he didn't state but expressed interest in the loadhandler so can't be much), if he only has 20 accounts and only has to move 25 yards of mulch this spring and doesn't plan on doing much hardscaping where the insert really pays itself off its not something to rule out. Especially with the cost of gas, don't drive around all year with a weight on your truck if you only use it every 2 weeks.

Great point it does eat my gas. I really never use it for mulch I just scoop the mulch out of the truck. I will dump the last bit of mulch and leave my helper to get more.

I have seen a local landscaper here that has one of his pick ups bed turned into a dump and he pulls a trailer with it. the only problem he has is if he has a load in it and wants to dump it he can not leave it up in the air with some material in it. It will not do that the easy dumper is the way to go I Love ours we are on our 3rd right now and will never go back. to anything else we can haul 4.5 yards of mulch and 3 yards of dirt and a ton of grass and leaves and hit the button and up and out it goes. you don't have to mess around with getting out of the truck and turning the Handel and hoping all the material comes out and then cleaning by the wheel wells. that is our take on the easy dumper.

you have to notch the frame to install the pivots on the rear. you can cut part of the bumper out to make it clear the reciver or just not use a bumper but i didnt want to do that because is looks bad.

theres a brand out there called stealth dump kit that i was looking at. the brackets are set up different and you dont have to worry about your bumper or trailer hitch.

we lap the mat because the first time we used it the mat came out and left the chips. so we lap it over to lock in the mat and it will slide right out. you do have some left around wheel wells but not much and beats not having one.

Works fine, I have a 250 6ft bed, you may need to rake some off but most of it can be pulled with the load handler, if you have a nice truck and don't want scratches on the tailgate you need to get some Rocker panel tape (Clear Plastic). the handler has a pad on it but with dirt and dust getting between the pad and the tail gate it scratches the finish

I browse this sight more than I post but reguarding the bed conversion...

I have an 06 F250 shortbed with the dump bed conversion...
$900

Had help installing over three days, required much welding/ fab

Had welding shop custome fab recessed hitch
(need to remove hitch ball)

$500

Had same shop reroute filler neck to under wheel well
(when conversion is installed need to lift bed to dump, which would mean removing hitch ball)
$60

I can dump a days worth of clipping no problem

I can dump "2 yard" of mulch- havent tried more

I can dump 5 yards of leaves with lead box

I cannot dump 2 yards loam

I will not even try to dump rock/ stone

I do not regret my purchases, but would go with a dump insert next time...

I agree, wish I had saved that $100, now its going to cost $200 to repaint the tailgate. its better than nothing but save your money and get something better.
