rye grass a cold season grass
it really hates the heat and the cold
It wears good so it great for high traffic areas and also is very shade tollerant
It requires the same 1" per week of water as most lawns but will survive drought...
The downsides are that it cuts hard.... even with sharp blades you tend to get a shredded look to your cut...
it also does not repair itself well....Kentucty blue grass is compatible so mix of the two tend to work out good.... more rye in the shade KB really sucks in shady areas...
hope this helps...
REMEMBER NEVER SEED ANNUAL RYEGRASS..... READ THE BAG OR NEXT YEAR NO LAWN....
