What is the weight of that machine? I like the dual cylinders for the blade. I am used to them only having a single cylinder in the middle.

saw one on ebay for sale that looked exactly like yours.....in fact, it has the same lettering and all........fancy that......I went and searched for similar years to yours with similar hours and didn't find much.....lots of newer body styles 2002,2003 model years....i am sure you have done the same. I would think if you could get $18k that may be a price that it would find a home.....what have they given you for trade in value?

mrsops

17,000 for a trade so the machine i figure is worth 22,000

The new paint and especially the new tracks are plus for sure.Only thing the new owner won't want your business name painted all over it ,so you might have to do some repainting in those spots:)

If you want auction prices check Iron Planet. They are worth what you can get lets face it:cry: !!!!

Used minis are not big money sellers that is for sure, but who know you might hit it lucky.Good luck:usflag:

that's kinda what i was thinkin' if you can wait for the right buyer and you don't want to move it fast. another way to approach it is to take the 17-18k for trade in value and negotiate the dealer throwing in a few extra implements to make up the $5k difference if you are looking to do the deal soon.

Getting 22,000 is a little steep I found a Canadian listing for a 2004 341 for 29,000 CND.

I would probably trade the machine in and take some loss. With your guys job situation in the USA not being the best you may take a long time to sell the machine.

Let the dealer take the machine and have it sit on their lot.

That machine here would be worth $20,000 - $21.000

Minis depreciate hard, much like backhoes. Since you have two (you do have two right?) you could put it up for sale and when it sells it sells. Only take what you are willing to let it go for.

HOWEVER: remember that when you trade you only pay sales tax on the difference, so add X % for sales tax to your trade price and that is the number you need to be selling that machine for to equal its value as a trade. Some guys forget that.

How does your sales tax work in the US? Here in Canada, we charge sales tax on our work. Every month, we take the total sales tax that we have collected or is collectible on sales, subtract all sales tax paid or payable on purchases, and remit the difference.

I would assume that since you are factoring in sales tax in the purchase cost, that you do not charge tax on your work???

When you trade a machine in, you only pay sales tax on the difference. In other words, if he traded his machine in for $20K lets say for the sake of easy numbers and the new machine was $50K, he only pays sales tax on $30K vs. sales tax on $50K.

i wish they would give me that number i would do it in a second. there only willing to give me 17,000 and the 337 is 55,000. i like the 305 alot as well i want to see what cat can do on the price

That part I understand. What I am asking is why do you consider tax as part of the purchase cost. Here, we get the sales tax back.

ex in June I do 30K in sales before tax, pay 10K in material etc and buy a 10K machine.

our sales tax is lets say 15%

I charged $4500 in sales tax on my 30K sales (collected 30450 from customers)
I paid $1500 in tax on material (Paid out $11500 total)
I paid $1500 in tax on the machine. ($11500 tax in)

At the end of the month I take the $4500 I collected in tax on sales, subtract the 3000 I paid in tax on the material and the machine, and remit the $1500 difference to the government. The sales tax on material and machines is not out of my pocket. I only remit the positive balance between what I collect and what I pay out.

So at the end of the day, a machine that is 10K plus tax, costs me 10K.

I see what you're saying now. I've never found anyone get out of sales tax on a piece of equipment, although when we go to buy landscape supplies if you give your UBI number (tax ID number) to the vendor, most of them will sell you the product tax free as you'll be passing the tax on to the customer. I've never seen that done with equipment, don't believe it's possible.

hey scag what do you think about the cat cr305?

Scag48

305C CR is greatly improved over the original series machines. They look much better on paper and they definately prove that in the dirt compared to the older series. The C series minis are a vast improvement across the board for all sizes. The 303CR wasn't a bad little machine, my dad runs the crap out of his, but I'm sure the 303C CR is even better. The 304CR and 305CR were underspec'd, that's all changed now. The angle blade is a nice option, however I don't know if I'd order one.

Plus the older CR's (the one I ran) had a stupid 2 speed "button" on the floor you had to push down on with your heel and the thunb and swing boom functions were on the floor, now everything is on the hands, and more leg room as been added.

yeah plus the machine im demoing has the auto idler they call it say im in the machine and i stop digging there is a 5 second timer that idles the machine down to low then once you start digging again it automaticly idles all the way its a really cool feature its going to save alot of fuel. plus i love the feature of the button on the joy stick control to move the boom from left to right awesome. i was also very impressed with the power of the new 337 as well and the machine doesnt vibrate as much as the older ones

Unless your anti Deere i think it would be worth your time to try one.I rented one and it was a good productive machine. It had the idle down thing you was talking about.

The cab does not give you a lot of room, that is a minus. It was fast and smooth.Super fast swing.

Not sure how dealer support is where you live, but the machine is okay, and i would think the price would surprise, compared to your other choice.

Saying this i do have Cat equipment:dancing: Good luck:usflag:

I have a C304CR and it is a good little machine, does everything I need to do with it...currently I'm tearing down a 2400 s.f. house with it..no problems....I have the auto idle feature with cab and a/c, long stick with thumb and mech. coupler...good power, I ripped all the teeth off my 24" bucket...poor design, pins go in from the top instead of the side, cat is rewelding new stubs and teeth on my buckets as we speak....

The one I used to run had that dumb button on the floor and dirt and mud would always screw that thing up and it wouldn't work have the time. Thank God they changed that. I like the new button on the joystick to move the boom right and left and I also like the new angle blade feater on the new Cat minis.

yeah i think its like an extra 2,000 for that angel blade feature

BIGBEN2004

If I were digging allot of ditch's that $2,000 would be money well spent. I don't do allot of ditch work myself so it would be an extra $2,000 in my pocket.

Upgrade to newer stuff and start a new tax wright off for the next 5 to 7 years or so also. And if anything breaks in the first year or so warranty covers it... That is a win win situation.
