I take care of fields that are planted in Tiffway Bermuda and they have a heavy red clay base. Top dress every other year W/masonary sand. I need to purchase a new aerator and just wondering what some of y'all may think.

the slice is nice that way you don't disrupt play. but the plug is way to go. You could get into the big bucks and get an aerevator or some other "shatter tine" design.
I have a 96" pull behind that I'm trying sell...but Your a long way from DC

a core aerator. atleast a 72 inch if you are doing playing fields.

We bought a Plugr. I haven't had a chance it do anything but test it when we bought it but it was impressive. It's a walk behind though. It takes awile to do large fields. Aerators that go straight in and strait out make really neat holes. That is important when you want to fill the holes with topdressing.

If possible pull cores everytime. If you are worried about the cores you always can chop them up with a rotary mower, or better yet verticut them.
