And just picked up my lawn equipment and have 2 accts already that I start march 1st.

its ballparks so there should be very little blowing , weedeating is not that bad they let the winning lco spray the fence lines.

$2139 and your not sure? Thats what 14-15 hours, tops, with a 72" deck? You could go buy a new $12000 mower and pay for it in 6 cuts! Even paying an employee to do it, should break even at 7 cuts, and have a new mower. Personally I think I would get a wide area mower, look at the $25000 as an investment that will pay for itself the first year. Try to lock up the contract multi year and your set.

But thats just what I would try to do, I dont know your numbers. Good Luck:drinkup:

More to it then 2139 a cut....then come the expenses... and Im close but I know this leaves some out also

mower cost = 6ph
fuel cost = 4 ph
maintenance= 2 ph * this covers belts and oil change and lube, not replacing hydro or engine
employee cost =8 ph
Insurance cost=.25 ph

That brings cost to $21.00 an hour and that doesnt take in too account any trimming $11.00 ph and blowing $11.00 ph or anything for the truck and trailer which is usually around $5.00 an hour

That doesnt leave alot of profit....less than $10.00 an hour

So even if your trimming 4-5 hours, bringing your man hours to 20 hours, your saying there would be less then $200 profit in it per cut? I dont think so.

your numbers at $21ph to run mower is $294/mowing expense(14 hours mowing)
my guess at 5 hours trimming adds $55/trimming expense
add another 5 hours for blowing adds $55/blowing expense

I guess I dont see how this would cost you more then $500 per cut? Unless for some reason you could only cut 1-2 acres an hour. But if it's wide open 5-6 acres per hour sounds doable.

this acreage is broken up with a fair amount of driving time .. 27 miles from the shop for the larger 22 acre park the rest are around 2-15 miles from the shop.. the lots are are from 1.5 -22 acres . i have no doubt that i can make a profit off it, i have already ran the numbers . i may sub it out if i win it... . i have a few large areas that i mow already and this one my stretch me kinda thin

What part of NC are you in? Around here a yard of mulch is $34 wholesale and $43 Retail from local supplier. We've been getting around $75 per yard delivered/installed.

Nice to get mulch that cheap. Dbl ground hrd wood runs me $21/yd single ground $17/yd for those I charge $55/yd. Dyed mulch red, black is $28/yd those I charge $65/yd. I have seen mulch much cheaper here but it's crap. I bought some black mulch for my home, as I started spreading it I noticed all it was is dyed chipped up wood pallets.

For delivery I charge $35 per delivery. I have a dump trailer for that. Anthing over 13 yd my supplier will deliver for free. Within the city limits. Also any materials and prep work is extra.

Good luck in 08

I am up here in Frozen ND and lawn stuff is fresh on the mind. I was plowing this weekend too, just finished up some touch up today. But its bidding time here, just got an email for 36 properties to bid on, and a phone call telling me a packet for 200 more properties is in the mail. I gotta sharpen my pencil!

Hey I guess i am getting a good deal in this area then. The company I get it from has been around for 15+ years and he has a good supply mulch! He started to carry dyed a few years ago when he bought a dye machine. Im not a big fan of that dyed crap it is messy and doesnt look good after 1 month or so. We use double ground red ok or hardwood. Hope this warm weather comes soon in Foothills on NC.
