Honest guys, I have not forgot about the pictures. I have them, just have to find a place to put them so y'all can see them. And I have been busy this week and have not had time. It has rained every afternoon this week And I am trying to play catch-up between the showers. If no rain tomorrow I'll be caught up and then can work on the pics.
Also, I have the new machine at the house. Seems that this unit is not for sale yet, but it is for testing purposes and field trials. And since I am just about the only person in my area that has mulch/side discharge decks, (distributer did not supply deck, just drive unit) I have the honor of being one of the chosen to test this new unit. And since I have never used a walkbehind, this is going to be a test of both man and machine.
Will Keep you posted.
Jim

Adam, It is chain drive. As I said I have never driven a walkbehind, so what is the problem with chain drive? Is there anything I need to watch for?
My dealer asked me to write a report on what I thought of the unit as I use it. So any help from some of you as what to look for might be helpful to me.
Jim

how do you test it without a mowing deck ??
why would they have you test a unit with out a mower deck on it ??
i have heard this rumored to be in the works for 1 or 2 years now, but have yet to even see a drawing of this machine.
lets see some pics....
sounds like it could be a heavy duty unit....

The reason I do not like chain drive is becouse I own a Walker 11hp chain drive and I have come to hate chain drive!Although just before I stoped useing my 11hp I put motorcycle chain in and it never busted. It might be allright but I will need some convincing.Hope to see those pics soon.Mowerconsultant is right how do you demo or even drive a unit with no deck???When I take my deck off my scag I have to hold the hanlde bars up.Have they rigged it so it will drive without a deck????
----------
from:Adam
AB Lawn Care

mowerconsultant, Adam....I will use the decks that I already have. I have a 42" mulch, and a 52" mulch/sidedischarge. I don't know why they send unit out without a deck, but I'm not complaining, because I am about the only one in my area that has these decks. (READ: I get to test unit). Unit will not (as I understand) work with a GHS deck.
I think that Walker has only made six of these units so feel lucky to be able to test it.
Jim

LOOKS INTERESTING....HANDLEBARS APPEAR LIGHT AND WEAK BUT, IT DEFINITELY LOOKS INTERESTING. I'LL KEEP MY WALKER RIDERS AND EXMARK WBS FOR NOW THOUGH. HOWEVER I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN TEST RESULTS. AND WAS THERE ANY HINT AS TO POSSIBLE RETAIL PRICE FOR THE FUTURE???

Wow!Looks like a real neat machine! They will have to beef up the handel bars. And do a few things here and there to get it really rocking but i'm shure that it will have some mods done before it hits the market. That thing has neat little tail wheels!Hey if it can accept walker decks do you think it would accept a snow thrower?????That would be cool! How does it handel? What hp and model of engine?Look like a large engine for a walkbehind!!!!!I like that! Thanks agian for the pic!Try to get some more!Maby even in action!
----------
from:Adam
AB Lawn Care

Sounds like a good idea, especially with the interchanging decks. What would make it 100% better is if, like somone mentioned, you can hook up the snowblower or the broom, etc to it!! That would be great! Well I put the picture up on my site too, so the guys who stop by there wil see them. Thanks and keep us updated on the info!
Forgot to ask, I never ran a walker, but how long does it take to change out the decks? Is it pretty easy for someone to do alone?
One more thing......Now that I looked at the pictures a little better, I like that back wheel idea. I'd imagine that would keep the deck from "jumping" up. Is it on a spring or something?? People might have some problems putting it on their trailers with that wheel (not being able to lift up the deck on the way up) Seems like ot would be a + while mowing though.

----------
<a href="http://communities.msn.com/guidosequipmentpics/">"Guido"</a>
David M. How would you raise the deck up to get over a curb with that wheel in the back?

FIREMAN

TIM, YOU'D BACK UP OVER THE CURBS JUST LIKE A WALKER RIDER

Give it time to evolve. Did you ever see the pics of the early Walkers?
My question is - If you put the GHS deck on can you collect the clippings in a backpack that you wear?

Amen on the evolution reply, this unit looks like something one would purchase at a farm supply store. Walker needs to do some more homework on walkbehinds before they launch production on this thing. MHO, Lynn

it looks kinda like a gravely, i'm guesing it has a horizontal shaft engine. where are the thumb locks for the handles? i think the tail wheel would make it harder to pull it back, cause most of the time when i pull my walkbehind back at a turn, i lift the front off a little. the handles do look weak, and it I don't see an easy place to adjust the belt tension

I really think that walker will do alot of changes before release.Have you ever seen the picture of the first prototype walker???If you have you will know what i'm talking about!!!!!I really hope they take there time!!!!Making a crappy machine could kill there rep.
----------
from:Adam
AB Lawn Care

I got to try one out today.
Very different! Hydro with chain drive.
If you go backwards too quickly the drive unit rises up in the air. Drive unit and deck pivot, similar to the riders.
The third wheel? I kept stepping on it as I walked.
I'll add more later...got to go
