So this year i am planning on getting a bigger truck. I am looking at chevy 2500 hds for 08 and can't decide wether i should get a single cab or a extended cab truck. I will be plowing with this truck as this is one of the reasons i am upgrading. I also just want some more motor. What do ya think i should get?

The size of the cab has nothing to do with how much power you're getting with the motor. A single cab will be better for plowing because it is shorter, but I can tell you from experience that the ext. cab is great for putting all your crap in the back. I usually only carry one other person wtih me so my back seats are full of stuff while the front is clean. it works great.

Plus if you have to, you can put more people back there.

extended cab's seam to always have a bit better resale, that is somthing else to consider. I have not looked into the 2500 chevys but, when I was looking at odering a new 1500 options were cheaper on the extended cab's for some reason.

Me personally, will never have anything less than ext cab. But thats my personal truck. All the other trucks are regular cabs. :)

Extended cab is nice. Any more I think that extended cab or crewcabs will be the way to go for me personally.

The extra cab space is quite handy.

Nothing wrong with regular cabs either. It depends on your needs.

I Like a regular cab alot better, also think they look better. The only way i'd buy an extended or crew cab is if I had a family.

i had an extended cab before and all it ended up being was a place for more junk to accumulate, switched back to regular cab and dont have anywere as much junk in the truck as i did before.

I have a reg cab... i have been looking at ext. cabs for the extra room, no matter if it was a w/t or just a personal truck id say ext. cab is the way to go.

My dad was just wondering becasue he has a reg cab and likes it. Now i have an extended cab in my 1500 and like it, plus i am a kid and haul more people around. I went to the chevy website and "built my own truck" and the extended cab was only 2,000 more.

I have to frequently clean out the cab of my pickup.

I don't mind an extended cab but I don't think I would want a crew cab. I need the space of an 8' bed so I usually just go with a regular cab. I can't keep quite as much stuff as I would like to at times but hey...you can win every battle.

Having owned both, my new 08 duramax was a tough decision. I went with the regular cab this time & im very happy with it.

Having the extra interior space of an extended cab is a big plus...ESPECIALLY when you need it.

FinerCuts, I could not help but click on this topic when I saw the title, stay with an extended cab. The '08 2500's and the '07 2500's are not that much different. I'll post some pictures of an '07 2500HD with the 6.0 liter Vortec V8, extended cab with an 8' bed.

This was my 1st extended cab, scottsdale 2500. I purchased it new in 1989. It ran around 16 grand and i can remember thinking that was a lot of money!

Lawn king in 1989 that was a lot of money. I lave a 3/4 like the one in post #16. Can't beat the ride at all.

That was a 1996 silverado (loaded) of all the trucks that have come & gone i wish that i had held on to that one. I sold it in 2003 with 125000 miles on it. I changed the oil myself every 2000 miles as i had every intention of keeping it. I built my dumptruck in 2003 and the project ran way over budget, so i had to sell the chevy. The 350 under the hood sounded like new!

With all the junk that collects, I don't know what I'd do with a reg cab. Extended is the only way to go IMO. Crew cab is a waste unless you haul around 3+ people all the time, and today's ext cabs are big enough to hold an adult in the back with ease anyways.

If your using it for work, get the Reg cab.
I use all reg cabs, but I don't take my work trucks home either (personal vehicle is an suv).

regular cab definately w/8 feet of bed :) you can have all the back seats you want, i dont have any kids or such so i have no need for em. also for plowing and working i like the regular cab better, and its easy to turn folks down for rides :nono:

i have been looking at a new f-350 and i think i like the look of a extended cab wit the short box on it. i think all the trucks i buy from hear on out will be extended cabs including the f-550 and f-650. crew cabs are nice but you get the same function out of an extended.

Well i figure if i get ext. cab i won't have to worry about the room in the back becasue i won't be the one riding back there! I was thinking about getting another but the choice is hard as both might have alot of + and -...

I like the extended cab for the room. It is nice to be able to keep your coveralls or sweatshirts or an extra jacket back there for when you need it. I also like it because if you can store like landscape plans back there or product catalogs and samples that you might need for appointments but you don't have to keep that stuff in there all the time.
