Hey what do you guys think about getting a little excercise while distributing flyers. Has anybody ever tryed it and what are some of your own tactics?

Couldn't find anything about riding a bike.

well you didnt really say you wanted to ride a bike..... you would have to be moving your bike every house, unless the houses there are a ways apart. what do you do with your bike once you get to your desired neighborhood, chain it to a tree and then move to the next street? You can't put flyers in mailboxes so if you were planning on riding by and shoving it in the mailbox that won't work.

We took our car and parked, visited several doors, one of us moved the car, continued door to door, and on and on.:walking: You get some exercise doing that.

I use doorhangers and place a flyer in them and hang them from the mailbox flag. I

haven't had any one call me and yell and scream about it. I wait till later @ nite and

drive my truck...can cover more neighborhoods that way.

I would advise against that.

Its against the law and if your post master decides too, they will pull every one of your flyers and fine you for each one and charge you postage for each one and then they throw them in the trash.

I get flyers on my mailbox flag every week, and from huge companies like Owens Corning (their basement refinishing system), Domino's Pizza, Pizza Hut, Comcast, Verizon, ect.

I'm not saying its legal, but its obvious their not enforcing it in my area. I have talked to LCO's that do mailbox flags every year and have been doing so for 10 years plus.

Put your flyers in the paper box...that's not illegal

About 10% of the homes in my area have a paperbox.....

Most newspapers around here are thrown on the ground in the front yard

Just walk to each house......

you will be amazed at how many you can distrubute in a few hours,,

walking is good for you........

park the car/truck at one end of the street, you hit one side, helper hits other, then walk to next street, work it the same, then walk back to truck...

next thing you know you will look up and your helper will be trying to race you to the next house,,,,

I do that for houses that do not have the mailboxes on the street. I hire 3 guys, and walk with them, we each take a street, ect for 8 hours. I can do about 1500-2000 that way. I can do about 1700 myself from 4:00am - 6:30am hanging them on flags.

I have also done it during the day with a helper so I don't have to drive backwards, when I see the mailman in a development, they just wave and smile. Nobody in my area enforces it, so why should I take the hard route?

Must be nice, the last time we posted on (NOT in) the mailboxes my first call was not from a prospective customer but unfortunately the local postmaster.

Here is another more specific question about going door to door. What method do you use to attach the flyer? Do you have doorhanger holes? Or do you use masking tape? Has anyone used the blue painter's tape? I know it cost a lot more but would not harm a door, just not sure how well it would hold up.

One way that ive seen to be popular around this site is sticky notes. get a bunch of pads that are pre printed just like a post card and stick them on each door. I was going to do that this year but I still have a few thousand door hangars left from last year. With those, I had a business card size magnet made up and used it to help keep it on the door.

I Definitely wouldn't tape anything to a door. First, I wouldn't like it myself, second, someone will end up wanting you to pay for a new knob or to have their door painted.
