View Full Version : Equipment Delivery Charges

I was just curious if anyone on here has any experience in buying a piece of equipment and having it delivered. I'd like to know a ballpark figure on how companies charge to deliver a dozer, backhoe, skid, etc... I haul my own equipment, but I'd like to have an idea what it would cost if I bought something far away.

I'd like to hear from someone who has had a machine delivered, and what they had to pay, along with what it was and app. how many miles the machine was shipped.

If you have time, you can get a "back haul" and usually save bucks. I found a tractor loader hoe in MI and had it delivered to WI (350 miles) for a cost of 300. That was just a bit more than my expected fuel costs and was done on a larger trailer pulled by a F350 or F450 (can't remember).

I found the haul on the hauling section on www.ytmag.com. There are other places that are similar.

If you contract to haul it as a direct load, it will cost 3/mile or so. Depends on the size of the equipment and all. My TLB was only 22' long and 10k.

hope that helps a bit.

Last summer I had a 44,000# excavator hauled from Flint MI to just south of Canton OH, and it cost me $1,200. I believe it was about 380 miles. It pays to check around, as I had several quotes of almost $2000, and many in between.

Think Dozerman is scheming.

I will say that the price is likely to be all over the map. I have gotten quotes that varied by 3 thousand when I shipped a 50 ton tag trailer from NC. Make a lot of calls. I found a company here in Idaho that I have been using almost exclusively. They have been giving me great prices.

It is getting late. It was a 25 ton trailer or 50K pound capacity. Pull it with a dump truck.

When i got my D6R from your state it was around 650 miles to here and the cost was $2400 dollars. At the time i needed the machine so didn't do a lot of checking around.

I think the name of the outfit was Pointdexter ?????,they should be close to you I'm thinking.I let the guy selling the machine line up the transportation, but have done a lot more researching since then.

Got a lady(broker) from KSSS state that does hauling to haul a D6R dozer blade to me from Oregon. That was $1200 dollars,so trucking something isn't cheap by no means:rolleyes:.

Also there was permits that needed to be gotten ,so some of them are $100 dollars plus if your oversize(width),when going through other states. They add up,especially if your travel through several states.

Good luck:usflag:

Have you had more than one D6? Poindexter is the big dog in town. They do a lot of big site work, and are probably one of the biggest excavation companies in the state. I didn't realize they transport for hire but it makes sense. Did your machine used to belong to an individual or a dealer?

I have two D6's one is an R seires and the other is an H series.I bought the R from a individual in your area.I'll PM you if you want to know more.

Like i said the seller of the dozer lined up the transportation, and it worked out okay because of the time limit of me needing the dozer.

As far as the blade i wanted a more productive style blade,so i got the new blade and will be selling the other one sometime.Hopefully this year:usflag:

I was too busy trying to figure out where QPS finds these avitars instead of thinking about the mini.:clapping:

I have my 9020 plenty busy at the moment and my 465. I have 5000 square foot hole to dig and it is just under 9' in the ground. Utilities to work around. It has been a long day and there are several more to go. I'll bet that QPS's 304 would likely be just as productive as my 9020.:clapping: Although I don't know what I would do with the 297. Maybe some sort of lawn art? I am kidding Tim, just kidding.

I have yet to figure out his source for the avitars. The Rigby one was really scary. I was figuring the next one was me taking my morning pee off the deck.

We could take the 297 and bury your 465....I have been in contact with NORAD on repositioning the Hubble for that morning pic of you on the deck, intell says even though it can see for millions of miles it cannot reach Ribgy and the object in your grasp...

I knew I have left myself open for that one. I subscribe to the "hold it with three and piss on two philosophy". Ah the hat actually it is not in the mail. I thought it was going out with the bills today and well my wife decided no bill will go out before it is time and apparently it is not time yet. However it is boxed and ready to go. Maybe tomorrow. NORAD already has my Lat and long. by the way. Bury my 465? You must be smokin whatever BC Ron is on.:nono:

I understand...the train only comes through once a week to pickup the mail.....I'm offended you mentioned me and BC Ron in the same sentence...for Ron...not me...as far as your 465, if we had a chain long enough I'm sure I could drag it all over the job site for ya...:weightlifter:
as far as the mini being as productive as the 9020...yeah right....you could bury it with three scoops..

We ought to build a big 'ol sandbox about halfway between Rigby, Iderhoo and that darn place where they race cars or whatever, oh yeah, Indy. Then you guys could bring your toys and battle in a closed environment.

My money is on Cat. After you guys get done with the showdown, I'll borrow a company D8R for the weekend and we'll see if anyone can bring something from Case that can wipe that. :weightlifter:

Thats easy Scag. We'll just limit the fuel intake to 5 gal. That 8 will barely start before she is dead in her tracks.:weightlifter:

If that doesn't work we will MOB in a CX800

QPS I have good news!

The wagon train stopped near the house to reshoe one of the horses. Mrs K was able to walk up hill both ways in chest deep snow to the stranded wagon train and helped hammer out the new shoe and get them on their way. As a token of their appreciation, they took the box containing your hat. If the Lewis and Clark trail is still passable it looks like you should have your hat. Hopefully they don't get stranded and are forced to eat it. I lost a sheep skin jacket that way.

Now when/if it reaches you please remember that it was assembled by a Blackfoot Indian tribe that utilized centuries old traditions in CASE hat building (disregard the made in China label). You will notice the high quality of the hat immediately (much like running CASE equipment). Feel free to burn your existing CAT hats. The next step is to call your local CASE dealer and tell him to pickup your CAT equipment as you have been enlightened to the error of your ways. He'll understand.:clapping:
