I plan to start going at it heavily around March 5 or so. When it's this cold your proabably not going to get enough calls to make it worth your time IMO. Do something else constructive for the business at this time. We're supposed to get a snow storm Thursday night.
Do you have a lot of competition in Indy?

I've gone on about 5 estimates from last years referrals and I've closed on two of them so I have a good feeling about this year.

I wish I had a bigger area to work with up here. I mean there's a lot of grass between Lafayette and W. Lafayette, but there's quite a bit of competition.
I don't mind competition it makes everyone do better work. I just hate all these part timers that don't know what they're getting themselves into or how to charge.

All my letters went out on the 16th of this month. I'm trying to get some of my TGCL customer to switch over. I had one customer tell me yesterday that here TG rep has been hounding the crap out of her, to the point of almost harrassment. She said every time he calls the price just keeps getting lower:rolleyes:

It's gonna be rough starting out full time but Im using my 401k from the job I just left to get me by while I work hard to build our customer base

Is a just throwing money away to start distributing doorhangers this early?? Ive never done it, but we all have the time now BEFORE it gets warm, seems to make sense now instead of later.. opinions? experiences?

where in CT are you? Winter isnt over just yet for us in the N.E...
Friday, Feb 22
High: 31 °F RealFeel®: 18 °F
Breezy with snow much of the time, accumulating 2-4 inches
Do it now, then next week and the following. You want to be sure to hit the same people numerous times so they start to recognize your name. That way when time comes around and they start thinking about it they go straight to your flyer.

Its been below 0 here for weeks now. Haven't even ordered my doorhangers yet - no residential customer in their right mind is thinking about lawn service now. Will probably get them ordered early March for mid-late March hanging.

Heck, I did 5 commercial bids yesterday using my measuring wheel all in -10 degree weather. You have to do what you have to do.

Suck it up dude, we passed out about 1500 fliers last week. As far as the 401k thing, I wouldn't advise it. Your gonna be sorry.

Oops, make that 3,000 fliers last week. My bad.

I've been getting the same call from the mat advertisement girl. She wants to put it at Captain Cody's, over on Ballenger and Flushing.

I eat their occasionally, but i wouldnt advertise in that area.... other than The Journal.
She wants to put me in Flushing resturants.
20,000 mats to each resturant ... lasting from 2-3 months. 80 each. or 150 for 2....
I thought that was a pretty good deal what do you think?

Not bad. I thought about the Coty's location, because of the hospital traffic in and out. there were alot of formidable appearing people there, but they wanted way more than that - twice that amount. Was it for a company called worx4U? That's who was doing this one.
