Come next week, I will post pics of the new progressive link thumb I designed and had built. I was just informed it has arrived. Now I go from 90 degree rotation to 160 plus degree on the rotation with the new thumb....AND 45 degree each way on the tilt. Tilt bucket has bolt on cutting edge and twin cylinders vs. just one like on most tilt buckets....

Easy there, moneybags! You may need to get yourself into a Cat before you run out of $$$. Hahaha. Bucket looks great, I expect pictures of the thumb and bucket after installation.

big ole ugly thing on top is the coupler...old wain-roy pin style. Yea Skag, spent some coinage on this stuff. It was $6k for tilt bucket, $4,400 for new p.link thumb. Bucket weighs 1000 lbs.

Alright so I have a question. Do you plan on not using the thumb while the tilt bucket is attached? Or do you have a second line so you can run them both simultaneously, assuming you have a second switch? At 1,000 pounds, that's a hefty boy, probably not the best choice if you're setting stone for optimal lift capacity, but I'm sure you already know that.

not for setting rock. use a 24" hd bucket for rock setting. did alot of finish work with ex. last year on uneven terrain......this will allow me alot more versatility. making a quick-attach blade for it about 6' wide. it's a ditching bucket or for me a finishing bucket. and no, thumb won't work with bucket.....all I have is a diverter valve on the stick....would have to plumb another line and at this point....I don't think so! That is, unless bank of KSSS gives me a sub-prime loan.... :)

This is all part of a business plan that I worked on starting a year plus ago. Everything I have is paid for now ( after alot of blood, sweat and tears) and I am working on expanding niche market stuff.......plus, getting a thumb that will produce faster/better for me. Next little gizmo on my wish list is a breaker and then either a demo-dozer or grapple bucket for skid.

i agree on the grapple bucket i need one to, but after getting prices back in the 4.5k-7k range i think im going to have one built to my specs for a lot less. i guess i will find out when they get back to me with a price on the t-1 steel and the fab work.

Are you planning on making your blade bolt to the existing cutting edge holes? Or did you mean you can remove the bucket assembly entirely and fashion a moldboard to the rotating assembly?? Interesting setup for sure, definately sounds like you'll be the only one around with a setup like that.

Kaiser should send you some money, he sent me a Case 440 last week. I think it's his old machine, said he didn't want to bother trading it for a Cat so I told him I'd take it off his hands.

I just noticed that the cutting edge on the tilt bucket is Cat yellow, way to slowly make the switch.

Back when !!!!!!! I had a 225 Cat excavator(old machine to today standards).I took a 12ft. moldboard off an old grader, boxed in a spot on the back of the blade for the teeth of the digging bucket to fit in.

Set the blade up put the teeth of the bucket in the box, throw a log chain over the back side of the bucket, used a load binder and i had a 12 ft. back fill blade,or as you call it a butter blade.Only it was 12 ft. wide and 2 ft. tall.

I used it to back fill my tile trenches .Just run the excavator up the side of the trench with the house turned and backfilling as i was going up the side of the trench.

Didn't take long to put on and take off.Had a $150 in the old grader blade and the price of log chain and binder.:usflag:
