Picasso nailed all the names, Scat Track and Volvo are the same. The names you don't recognize are the ones that never made it very far like Koehring, Scat Trak, Hydra-Mac and Toyota, they just sold off their patents to the other names over the years.
To me the main ones are
Bobcat
Case
Cat
Deere
Asv
tachuchi (sp)

i think we need to wait for the new ct332 with higher hp and pilots to get run a bit and then we can decide if the cat or deere is better. i might have a biased opinion but i would say the deere would be a far better machine.:laugh:

Yes it is, any compact mini loader/machine under 10,000 lbs that has to skid it's method of traction devices to enable it to turn is indeed a "Skid Steer".

Up here New Holland has the biggest marketshare, they are a basic good machine. With the new cab and getting their pilots tuned they should get respect. I had a 665 and a 170 and they don't owe me anything, they made me enough money to get in to the Case. The visiablity out of a Case isn't any better or worse as the BC or Cat.
When I was younger a place I worked had a Hydra-Mac, the thing was a tank. I think it had a gears instead of chains, sounded mean driving around.

I remember thinking that the gear drive was an interesting concept. It didn't catch on but I thought it might have some value.

I remember Hydra-Mac with one T-bar for forward/reverse and the other T-bar for left right steering? Is that correct?

This one had the 1845 style hand controls, real basic. It was a big machine, picked up alot. I would take one for a yard machine if one was given to me. I can't remember the last time I saw a Hydra-Mac, wonder how many they made?

They had a dealer (they sold other types of construction equipment also)here in town. They sold one that I know of to a tree cutting company. They certainly looked HD, they also looked like a senior highschool shop project in the build quality area.

Well over on plowsite a guy has a ct322 that has just grenaded his second drive motor this winter:dizzy:. Some people must get machines that are better built ie. not built on a friday afternoon before a long weekend.

kps i think your so right i think some people do get a better build machine sometimes maybe theres diff guys on diff days lol i dont know i know some guys that just dont have any problems and some guys that just have tons of problems with there machines
Our T190 was the bees knees when we got it, the ctl was a new thing in the ottawa area and we were one of the first to own one. I just don't feel Bobcat has done much with this particular unit since they released it to improve it or convince me to own another one. One thing too that iritates me is the fact that our Bobcat dealer won't take ours in on trade:nono:. Mrsops your dealer must treat you really well, I wish I could say the same for mine.

i think alot of it has to do with who runs it and how they run it. give me any machine and i bet my life i can break something big and costly by running it like a dumb a$$. i would like to stand there and watch the guy run that 332 that went through 2 drive motors.....

My local Case dealer used to sell Hydra-Mac before Case made a machine larger then the 1845C. Once Case made the XT series then they stopped selling them. They always had all of theirs equipped with Case controls. They still say to this day they had very little problems with them and that they could easily run 10,000 Hrs and still be strong. I have never talked to anyone who owned one so I don't know how true that is. They are no longer made correct? If so I guess they must have not been too all full good.
