View Full Version : Finally Made our CTL Choice!!!
Well we pulled the trigger on an 08 257B2 today. M11 package, 4 in 1 bucket, 4 YEAR/4000hr BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. The salesman at our Cat dealer is extremely knowledgable and has been very good to deal with. I feel this is a very well built unit given a very close inspection and with that kinda warranty we have nothing to lose. The ASV dealership was just too far away and the salesman started to change his deal/story, so i didn't want to get screwed somewhere down the line with a he said she said warranty issue. Reasons we went with CAT...1) unbeatable warranty, 2) better quality, 3) closer dealership 4) better visibility IMO, 5) most importantly...MUCH SMOOTHER, RESPONSIVE, PRECISE PILOTS. Super stoked to get it to work in about 5 weeks time.

M-11 package ??????
Sounds like you got most of what you really wanted and a good warranty.Hopfully everything is in writing:confused:
Even with the bumper to bumper thing i would try my best to use the machine as much as possible for the things that it performs the best in and the least abuse to the track system.
I'm lucky in that most of my work is in dirt, with extreme muddy conditions off an on through out the year.So the rocky conditions is not an issue here like othesr have.Good luck with you new machine and keep us posted as to the good and the bad.:usflag:

Sounds like a good machine. How much did it end up costing? Also when you get it take some pics of it new and post them up.
Im the only one who will operate this machine so i will be careful not to abuse it. And yes the warranty is written right on the contract. It was $54,000 + Tax and we take delivery of it in about two weeks once the bucket comes in, i will take some pics before she gets dirty. I want to get this cab glass tinted too to help keep cool in the hot summers we get here, is it a big deal to get done, do you take the glass out for them or will they do it right on the machine?

Oh and another thing, check the engine oil when you get it and keep checking it every time it gets run, Perkins engines burn a bit of oil during the first 50 hours and that is something that is overlooked during the PDI.

$54K, that's a lot of cake. Good luck with it, hopefully the new 257's are better than the old ones. I'll never be a fan of them, though, heard too many horror stories on that particular model.

MA11 is the comfort package and option package arrangement....new system is C1, C2, C3....nothing really different from what you bought ron.
Thanks BC Ron:canadaflag:. I'm Glad to be part of the family! The undercarriage improvements are all designed with greater durability and longevity in mind. I know lots of guys here don't care for this model but for what we do with it, this cat will purr just fine. We did a demo in the fall and i immediatly loved everything about it. I will indeed keep a close eye on fluid levels, thanks for the heads up! I know the price seems high to you scag but everything just costs us more here in canada:cry:. And yes it is the C3 package.

that is a new package of warranty to me....especially on full machine coverage. it is possible i guess, but maybe his dealer is really brave.

Well he wanted us in a CAT so I said, hey bobcat has a three year warranty and its cheaper and the rate is 0% so...... Our CAT dealer is really good here, I have heard this and experienced it already with rental equip so he totally stepped up to the plate and gave us a super warranty to seal the deal.

So is this a dealer warranty thing not Cat then?????? Right?
If that's the case some of it might have been priced into the machine i would guess, again would that be a right ?
I take it your not going to be offering the extended/extended...... warranty thing right away i take it:confused:!!!!!!!
Would you care to give a ball park price on the same machine here in U.S. prices?:usflag:

So is the price you posted with the T190 traded in on your new machine. What do you figure they allowed you on it ? or was the price posted including it?:usflag:

Yes thats correct, the dealership is going to personally take care of warranty above and beyond CAT. The price quoted to us originally was the same even with the standard warranty, $52900. But the prices in canada are always higher, so there was probably room in there to "hide" the cost of the extra warranty. I would like to know what it would have cost in US$ too!

All the prices are not including any sort of trade in. we decided to hold on to the T190 for a little bit just in case we need it if the CAT does have to go to the shop, so we have our own "replacement" to keep the job rolling.

With that said,i'm sure the dealer felt better about not having to deal with moving the T190.
Don't hold this too me,but i thought Rons 247 was like about 34k to 35K,so they bumped the price up quite a bit between the two,for just being one size bigger then the 247.Right?
Well hopefully you have good luck with your new machine and working close quarter like you said i see where your coming from.
I just wish Cat would have gone with there own track system from day one.Hopefully on down the road they will keep making improvements with this system or design one of there own,on the same principle, but with their own improvement not someone elses.
So is the rear bogie all steel no rubber??? If that is the case why don't they just use all steel bogies and idlers on the machine and elimate the chewed up rubber bogies and idlers?
Well again good luck and hopefully your dealer will come through when and if time araises.Dealer support is important like discussed before on here a lot.::walking:usflag:
The rear bogie is all steel, no rubber, and a complete steel wheel setup is not offered but I think at could be done. Ron traded in his T190 on the 247B2 so thats where the prices would differ. Thanks for the good luck, I will keep posted if any issues arise or to say its working flawless.:weightlifter:

all steel bogies would make that undercarriage too heavy and would really slow it down....i will see what i can do on a us price for you guys

I don't think it would slow the machine down any, once they offer all steel bogie wheels that will be when I would consider looking at them. They need to do something because the smell of burning rubber makes me sick. Every time a small stone gets jammed down between the frame and a boogie wheel it just rubs all the rubber off the wheel and starts smoking and stinks. They always get wedged in a place where you can't get them out so you have to keep running until it rubs all the rubber off of that wheel and falls out. With steel wheels this would be a thing of the past.

in heavy soil/mud applications the extra wt would slow it down some, that track has so much surface contact that it would be tough for it to get itself out of the hole. anyway you prob wont see all steel on that system regardless of machine size. back to the pricing question the price would be similar in the US 52K-55K..it all depends on how they did the warranty and the 4n1 bucket size..

It was $52,900with 66inch low pro bucket and $54,000 with the 4in1 66 inch. Thanks for checking on the pricing iron peddler:waving:

My 247 list price was around $51,000 CAN, but there were $2000 in options that weren't factory available that I added on, and then subtract $23,500 trade in but then add $8000 for the Bobcat payout.
