Looking at a new walkbehind this year. My choices are Toro hydro 48 or a Scag hydro 48. In my area the Scag is approx. $500 more. Which one would you go with? Any history or opinions on these two would be much appreciated!!

IMO it comes down to dealer support. I would go with Scag. havent had any real experience with Toro. So my vote goes towards Scag. Does either of them have pistol grips? or are they the ecs style handles?

Same dealer for both machines, with excellent support. I believe the toro is pistol grip and the scag has a new set up from what i've heard. My last walkbehinds have been John Deere, so I have no history with either of the ones i am looking at. Thanks

Well scags are comparable to Lesco's w/b. and I love my lesco w/b never had any problems with it!

The toro will produce a better cut hands down if it has the turbo force deck.

Do you bag mostly or mulch? I just bought a Toro hydro wb and the dealer told me that they come with a free bag. ($699 value normally) I dont bag enough for that to be a value to me, so I got the tru-trak for it instead and swaped out.
