Lime is used to raise pH of the soil. Spruce like soil on the acid side. No one can give you a correct answer unless they know the soil in that area. Soil testing can give you the real poop as to what the tree needs. Soil testing cost about $15.00 Tissue testing cost the same. Tifton Labs in Tifton Ga. is a good lab but I am sure there is a lab closer to you. Check with your county agent.
