I just dismantled a CV15S-41571 Kohler motor. I am looking to rebuild it as cheap as possible, if that is possible. I can find all the parts I need except for the crankcase itself. I'm not looking for a complete short block, just the top half of the crankcase by itself because the old one is unusable. Can anyone give me any information on where to find one?
I am just a backyard mechanic so please forgive me if I didn't say that right. Here are the motor #'s
Family# SKH426U1G2RB
Model# CV15S
Spec# 41571
Displ (cc) 426 =(26.0 cu.in3) the 3 is in superscript if that matters
Serial# 2006107631

The motor came off a John Deere LX255 Lawn Tractor

Thanks,

My dealer's parts look-up list "Use Shortblock" for the bare crankcase, That should sum it up that they don't offer just the bare crankcase.

Thanks, that's what I thought but wanted to make sure.

If I'm remembering correctly, I don't beleive it's available seprately.

A short block is huge dollars. Buy a new engine kind of dollars.

Find a used engine of the EXACT SAME model and spec at a local dealer and use that for parts.

Develop a real good relation ship with local dealers and see if you can peruse their junkers.
