Looking to buy a new Tiger cub this spring...does anyone know the approx' MSRP for this mower?

I'm a new member and I've look thru some of your forums...this seems to be a great site with lots of very informed people. very helpful
thanks to all!

Shoot, I wish I was at the office. I could get that for you. Ballpark would be $8500. The cutter price would probably be closer to $7500 I bet.

My dealer says they only have a 25 Kohler. He gets $7999.

"cutter" pricing varies I'm sure by distributor. Ours suggests selling at a particular percentage off of MSRP (the "cutter" price), but I don't remember offhand if it's mandatory.

If you want the 25hp kawasaki ya need to go up to a wildcat, but then you're only 100 bucks away from the 26hp liquid cooled unit (at least over here..don't know about your area)

just undder 8g but up in that range might as well spring for the "cat with the 26 Kaw--a seriously sweet machine

8,625 cash at our dealer in Indpls--well worth the difference in price over the Cub

Oh the Wildcat is super nice, much more so than the cub, thats for sure. I like how it's a bigger machine yet the COG is pretty close to the same as the Cub. They handle really well!

I'm guessing the 25kohler model is replacing the 23vanguard model from last year. Is it still a stripped down model? I think the 23 was suggested at $7650 around here.

The dealer I have been talking to has the Wildcat 26 LC Kaw with 52" for $7999 or 61" for $8399

I'd guess they were 07 floor models as the '08 dealers cost for the 52" is about 7,600 and the 61" is about 7,850 and most dealers strive to make a reasonable return on top of cost for shipping, assembly, etc! The machines themselves are identical.

I couldn't swear to it but I thought I recalled asking if they were "08 models and he said they were. I had been there in the fall and looked at '07s and am pretty sure these were '08. And, he said he had several in crates and that I would not be taking the display machine.

If those are the costs I don't see how the dealer could keep his doors open.

Something fishy here! The Scag to distr price is pretty much going to be the same across the board and the dist to dealer price will be also about the same with some "minor" regional differences. the '07 dealer cost for the 52 was 7,150 and the 61 was 7,375. Our dealer in Indpls practices "open book"--if you want to know what he paid he shows you immediately (not that it's really any of our business!) and he shows you what he would like to make on the exchange for his overhead and profit, including getting the machine to his store, assembling it, certified technician checkover, booking, and so forth!

The dealer and I also talked about the Tiger Cub 48" with 19 Kaw. He quoted I think $6850, but said he had a leftover '07 model in the back for $6450, still in the crate, which is why I think everything I was looking at was '08. I'm not one to squeeze the last dollar out of a dealer, I just want a "good" deal but not one that makes no sense for the dealer.

Just out of idle curio--what margin do you feel is fair to the dealer?? Including any freight, set up and delivery costs. 10%? 12% 15%? 18%

The 23 Vanguard is going away but from what I've been told there is enough inventory to last the season, and they will be sold alongside the Kohlers this year for a few hundred less. Personally. I'd consider dropping the 26 ELS if they could get the 23 vanguard in the 48" tiger cub at a decent enough price for dealer and customer.

I agree. That motor is also perfect on the 52inch cub (unless they are replacing that one with the 25 kohler as well).

Damn...there's no way I could sell a 61 Cub with the 25 Kohler at that price.

Does Scag have spring promotions? I e-mailed them twice and still waiting for a reply.

Zoorapa is right--there's no way a dealer could sell for that--teh dealers cost is 6850 give or take a few $$ regional differences!Comes to dealer in crate--takes assembly time, crate disposal time, facilities, technician time, showroom time, customer delivery time--(of course, he could have one of teh 2003 models mothballed!)

Well if you had been in Austin today you could have got it.....we bought one and it is not a mothballed unit....they had several sitting under the tent and yes it is a one day promotional deal in conjunction with the dealer. The had to meet the $6999 price Snapper had going with a 27HP Kohler and the new Ferris 61" deck. And Ferris tried selling a 1500 series with 61" in same price range but they didn't have any and not available until April so....we went Scag...and we got the big confort seat put on and flat free tires for a very small amount.

Stupid on the part of Scag in my opinion---they should put a vanguard, kawi, or kohler on them if they want you to charge that much.

the 23 vanguard with 52" deck goes for 7299. and 7599 for the 25 kohler. those aren't list prices either, those are the promo/cutter price.

You boys ought be in bed at 3 in the morning--not here on site "workin"!

While I would not slobber over the ELS, on an application like a Cub it is a fine choice, especially for the HO or weekend warrior not bashing it 40 hrs a week. Each MFG seems to be offering enough choices to satisfy reasonable demands. Our dealer sold almost all his Briggs units to small commercial operators not willing to pony up few quid more for a KAW units and all these machines are still out there on the job--not in his shop for repairs! If you can't satisfy your engine craving from the MFG"s offerings perhaps "we" are being too picky....
