i think ours is going to be 65-70 this year, lots of work and homeowner cant rent it for less. i hate to see guys doing it for 35-40. also we own the machine. just bought a new Ryan last spring and it is the best
I wouldnt even take the aerator off the truck for 65-70 dollors

It would be what ever i thought my customer would agree too, see thats the problem with so many of you guys you all worry way to much about a minumum or what some one else would charge. If these are your customers then who cares what someone else charges their customers?
If your customer says yes then its a good price and if they say no then lower your price alittle but dont just go with what everyone else is charging. I mean your customer might be fine with a price of $125.00 you have to put every customer into perspective because one persons treasure is another persons trash.

our min is 90, most average lawns around here we do from 120-140. it is based on size and difficulty

Wow skip you get a good price. For a 8K sq ft yard (avg homeowner) you get $300? Around these parts, would get $110-$125 for the same yard. I plan to do a little aerating with a price range of $12-$15 per K.

Im trying to somewhat compete with rental yards, because aeration is not very popular around here. Rental yards charge 45, Im charging 60 for the first hour and 50 each additional hour. Just did a job for 80 then the guy accross the street had me do his I got 70. It took just over 2 hours and may have another job on that street next week.
I think at 60 you will beat the rental yard everytime. Seems the fellers in here are not satisified with 60 per hour but I am. I have a Bluebird aerator, it does a nice job but it wears your behind off.

Man, i wish i could charge 65-75 dollars for a aeration, unfortunaly every lawn care company around here has standarized the price at $45 dollars :( so im kind of stuck, no one will pay more then that because they will just go to the next company

Is that price for aeration only?? I certainly hope so! The average price in my market is $35-40 per 1000sq.ft. That includes aeration, seeding and application of starter fert.

Yes aeration only. Aeration, seed and starter on a 8000sq ft my charge $190.
Yours $280.? Obviously our markets are quite different!!! I certianly hope you promote this service!!!!

Yeah the customer can get one for $50-70 but they also would have to spend an hour or more picking it up and dropping it off and cleaning it (most dont have the trailer or trucks to haul it around) and they have to still do the aerating and everyone here knows the work sucks!!!!
All that said I charge a minimum of $105. That's my rental fee $60 plus 1 hours labor.
I charge $75 as a base fee plus $5 / 1000 sq. ft. with a $105 minimum so if your lawn is under 6000 sq. ft. you all would pay the same. This rate has earned me about $90-100 per hour when I would do between 5-7 lawns per day. Thats about all I could handle.

I don't promote this as much as I need to. We have specialized in Commercial markets in years past, and these seem to be rather on the large side. ;) However, going into '08 we have made a conscious effort to break into the residential market. So we will hit the flyers this Fall. :clapping:

Well if you charge ove 100 per yard why are you renting the machine, 30 yard and you can pay for a machine?

I will be buying the equipment this fall but that will not change my pricing. It is to my advantage that I own something rather than rent it. I just couldnt justify a $2000-3000 piece of equipment when I only made $2000 in one year doing that service.

I lucked up and found my Bluebird on ebay for less than 1/3 the cost of a new one, the machine looks and operates the same as new. However if I were to buy new I would look at an eaiser brand to use

Payed $800 for 2 used bluebirds. I agree , if I get a new one it will be wider and easier to use . Bluebird does ok but it beats ya up quite a bit. Dont realy want to do 8-9 of these a day.

Not rototilling , but you can dethatch with them. Not as good as a power rake. Mine has been parked since the yr I bought it.I wouldnt buy another one. Keep in mind thats just my experiance and opinion. Im sure others have a different opinion about them.
