How many of you guys are using this method of pipe repair vs. a slip fix or compression fitting? I'm talking main lines. For those of you not familiar with the term, it is using the bell end of a stick of pipe with a coupling in liew of a slip fix or compression fitting.

Did it that way today. Kinda of hard when the main is 4 feet in ground.

Do it right the first time. A bell end and a coupling is not. Seems like a band-aid fix to me.

I use 4 90s on most all my reapirs.

If you've got pressure problems, 45 your way around...slip fix work up to
80 psi.but do it right on mainline...go solid. Excavate as much as possible
to make the connection....if you get the quarter
turn on both ends at the same time, then you deserve the big bucks.:)

A bell end and coupling, properly installed, is better than a slipfix.

4 90's is the best way to go though :)

Ditto. Done right there is no better fix.

3/4" up to 1.5" i usually use the bell end method. never had a problem, just give the glue plenty of time to dry

Bell end and a coupler. If not straight, 2 90s and 2 street 90s. I always feel guilty when I use a slip fix, it feels like cheating.

I used a slip-fix once, (the "good" one with dual O rings) & it leaked at 80 psi;
never again.:nono:
