Let me explain. I had it in my mind today to buy a Jungle Jack thinking it would make things easier as far as changing blades. My wife and I were at a lawn and garden show and I approached one of the vendors that I was fairly sure was a Jungle Jim's distributor. I asked about the Jungle Jack and the salesman told me he had some of them and needed to move them. He asked me if I was going to be using it on a WB or a ZTR to which I responded both. He cringed nad told me that it had been his experience that the Jungle Jack was not safe for use on a large ZTR. Of course with my wife standing right there to hear that, there was NO way I was going to be buying a Jungle Jack. I do have to say, I'm glad there are dealers out there that will not sell something if they think it is not safe, even if it means they miss a sale on something they need to unload.

Yep.

I'm a dealer, and constantly have customers that want to do cheap repairs.
I give them an estimate with everything they need to do the job and be safe (including replacing safety switches, guards, etc.).

If they don't go for it, I walk away from the repair, telling the customer (in a polite way) that they can have someone else do it.

No way I'm going to lose my business (or my good name) because someone is a cheap S.O.B.

jkason,

I have a exmark 60in 23 hp with a triton mulching kit on it. When i use the mulching kit, it leaves trails of grass and leaves on the right side coming out by the shout onced mowed. i figured having a mulching kit would mulch everything up, to where the is barly anything there. I have new mulching blades on there. Have any idea what could be the problem

I use it all the time on a 52" and 61" Scag Tiger with no problems at all. I do however, also use a small jackstand as a precaution. You shouldn't go under anything raised without a jackstand. Buy the Jungle Jack. It's fine.

The Jungle jack is great! I owned one and then gave it away when I sold an Exmark 52" Z. It lifted that just fine. I'd really like to have another one because using the floor jack to get under my 61" G-hopper midmount gets old, takes soooo long to get the thing up!

I use a chainfall and a wovan lift strap around the frame, fast and easy. I also put jack stands under the deck while the mower is up in the air.

I use the Wack-Jack (J Thomas' version of the Jungle Jack) on all our ZTRs. It works great!! It's one of the best tools I bought last year..... echo the sentiments about using a jack stand as a safety though.

Yeah but he made up for it another day by talking me IN to buying something else, so it all evens out in the end.

But seriously, for a Ztr what I use is a small aluminum jack, bought it at harbor freight for $80.
It's low profile so it slips under the deck, I still highly recommend you be dang careful, after you get it up in the air you might want to stick two jack stands on either end that would be far safer.

No way I'm going to lose my business (or my good name) because someone is a cheap S.O.B.

I'm the same way with lawn care, but I don't think that was the case here.
Either way you're right, it is our job to turn down business when we know the end result might not be all that.
Because no matter what that crap comes back our way.

Why, exactly?

Light, portable, very easy to use, quick, and SAFE.
What exactly is there not to like?

Here it is in use on a 2006 61" 35hp.
Works just as well on a 52" Scag.

Hey that works great for you, thank you for calling me out on this. I tried that jack on my 07exmark 50" with a Triton deck and only a small piece of the jack could grab the deck. It wasen't safe. anyway I should have not made a blanket negitive statement sorry

Do not use them for a ZTR if you value your life! I serviced exmarks in the past(60 and 72") and used it all the time. Then one day, just before I was getting ready to go under to pull the blades, the deck hook broke off! I don't think I would of survived if it fell on my head or chest.

I hear what you are saying, But look carefully at Audrey's pictures they are the perfect example of the proper way to use a tool like this, he has a jack stand placed carefully on the other side in the event of jungle jack failure. The guy is smart. But I am not dismissing what you said either their are allot of the masses who will skip this extra safety measure

J & M - I'm more of a homeowner-type dealer, but I'll do what I can to help.

First - Is the Triton an OEM mulch kit? If not, there could be fit-up issues.

Second - How much grass are you trying to cut with mulch blades? Read the manual. A good rule of thumb should be 1/3 of the total length of the blade of grass, not to exceed 1 & 1/2 inches. (Creates way to much debris, otherwise.)

Third - You have to block off the discharge chute to get full mulching effect - otherwise, all you have is a really screwy side discharge kit.

Lastly - Leaves look like crap when mulched. Vac them up or blow them off before mowing.

Your dealer has totally misinformed you. The Jungle Jack is designed to raise both ZTR’s and walk behinds. I would like to know of this dealer so that I may properly educate them. Please check out our website for product demonstrations.

While that may be a good rule up north, it won't cut it down here. You'd have to cut the grass on a daily basis during the summer wet season.

I just got my new Jungle Jack today, put it together tonight. Bought it from MowPart.com, great price, cheap shipping! Have yet to try it again though... Like I said earlier, I *had* one in the past, but gave it away :dizzy: Just tired of stroking the floor jack 100 times to get a stupid mower in the air. This will lift about the same height in one stroke, and I don't have to park the mower on the crack in the drive (it's the only spot that I can get the jack under the deck without a lot of extra work!) :)

I have to agree here and give a free plug to the folks at mowpart. they are a LOT cheaper than most places and the shipping is VERY reasonable. I've got a list of stuff I plan to pick up from them in the coming months and a jungle jack is on the top of that list!
