Do you estimate lawns only by the 5 dollar increments like 25, 30, 35 or do you also have 27, 32, 37 dollar lawns. I ve been looking at some lawns and some seem like 30 is too little, and 35 is too much. Is it ok for me to bid $32 a cut or is that just too different.

Sure thing, it's ok to price like that. We do it all the time. We have lawns all different price ranges, don't feel forced to estimate in 5's and 10's.

I picked up a few from other guys getting out of the business and they had some priced that way. I think it's up to you but I like to keep the $5.00 increments.

when i average out the monthly price for a lawn,i normally round it up to the nearest $5 increment.but thats just me

Yeah it is fine to do the odd prices. However, I too like the $5 increments. I don't know why I am like that. Had a customer one time that I priced his yard at $50 per visit every two weeks. He wanted to send me a check each month. For 26 visits during the year paid every month it was like $108.34 per month he paid. It about drove me crazy. I'm just weird like that. :laugh:

Either way with our accounts, they are going to get skewed sooner or later, when we do a price increase. Not all the time are our price increases $5.00 increments. So say we have $35.00 lawn, we may raise it $3.00 bucks the next year... then it's $38.00. We just found out it was impossible for us to keep everyone ending in 5 or 0, based upon price increases anyway.

I always put a 5 on my bids...
35.00 45.00 and such. It's simple
five dollars is a ton of money, or rather a new mower.
take real world figures....
lest say you underbid by 5.00 and there are 40 accounts, 5 x 40 = 200
this is a week, 200 x 4 = 800.00
10 months in the growing season = 8,000.00
that's a NEW mower......

I also don't raise my prices every year. If i am making a good profit from an account, they may stay the same price for 2-3 years. So, if I have not raised a customer's price in a couple of years, I can go up by by $5 instead of the $2-3 every year. i have never had any problems with this. I also have had some customers that give me a raise without me ever giving them a price increase. I like them.
