View Full Version : Stihl Product Question

Ok. I was looking through my 2008 Sthil Catalog because I need to purchase a new trimmer and blower. I will be using it for 10-20 yards a week for no more than an hour a day. Heres my question.
What is the difference between say the KM 55 R kombi motor and the KM 90 R kombi motor. The 55 is a "HomeScaper" unlike the 90. Is there a big difference? Same with say the BG 55 and the BG 65 D?
Thanks in advance.

what im asking is, is the homescaper built to commercial standards with just a smaller motor and components or is it built cheaper. i would like to know if the homescaper units will hold up for the 1hr a day ill be using it everyday of the week?

Go with the km90r,the 55 is built much cheaper and has a plastic handle that vibrates alot. The 90 runs smoother and although has a bigger engine burns less fuel.

The 55 would be a good backup (If you already had one like me), but if you have the money, skip even the 90 and get the 130...boat loads of power and runs like a champ.
Oh, if you have to edge a new edge the KM55 has no power.

I agree the 90 or 130 are both great units! We been using the 90 but i'm going to buy a 130 this year :D
