Sustainable Turf and Alternatives

I have recently been reading on "sustainable" turf practices, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the following:

1) Eco-Lawn

2) Enviroturf
http://www.bluestem.ca/enviroturf.htm

3) Planting Clover as a low-irrigation alternative.

Any input/advice is appreciated. I am researching these as possible ways to overcome irrigation limitations for a house that is on city-water.

Enviro turfs website:

"When preparing your seedbed we have a couple of tips:
spread corn gluten over the seedbed..."

Ummm what? I hope they mean use this well before you put their seed down but they do not mention waiting at least 6-8 weeks after your CG application before seeding. This will lead to confusion.

I agree - that entry threw me for a loop.

The Eco-turf looks interesting, but I have a hard time finding any user-experiences outside of their website. I am not keen on trusting those testimonials - being they they posted them.

Any other feedback?
