What are some of the ways you handle billing. Do you mail out the invoice, or plan to pick up on a certain day?

We do prepaid for our mowing agreements. works well for us. we get our money up front. all other work is billed as we do the work and is completed.

i use quickbooks pro and CLIP routing software, the clip links to my quickbooks to print bills for customers. I send bills out on the 29th and payment is due by the 15, if it is late there is a 20% late fee added to the bill. Anything 30 days or over, i take legal action such as a lien on property and stop cutting grass. My contracted customers get billed for the following month, and my pay per visits get billed for work already completed.

I leave an invoice at the house at the last cut of the month - saves postage. If customer starts mid month or so, I bill for first cut then start leaving invoice at end of month.

I do monthly billing using Gohper 2006 software, all you have to do is set everything up once for the client and depending on how you setup the client is how it will bill. We use the contract setup and it creats an invoice at the end of the month for us to give to the client. Very easy to use, i would highly recommend it to anyone

i use gopher and i really like it. the price was right for me, and my business. the salesman from CLIP tried to make me out to be a cheap loser for using Gopher, so i wouldn't reccommend them to anyone.

most invoices get printed once a month, some every 2 weeks for better cash flow. contracts are also every month. i send all mine via mail, if i don't hand my invoices directly to the person writing the check, they always find an excuse, "my kids lost it", "i guess it blew away when you put it in the door"....etc.....or they'll get lost in my truck, or i forget, and thats just another week of waiting.

set your payment terms right on the invoice!!! if they are late charge them for it, like a bad employee, if they get away with it once, they will expect to get away with it everytime!

I tried the Gopher software and liked it - but until I get enough regular income I'm using Microsoft Word Invoice that I made up.

Some I mail, some I leave on the door to cut down on postage. They are left or mailed on the last day of the month that they are mowed. Customer has 15 from that day to pay it. If they dont a service charge is tacked on to the next month.

Billing is done by mail or e-mail at customers discretion.

Try http://www.landscapemanagementsystem.com/ . They bill you monthly, like $2.99/mo. It's really cheap, and you can print your invoices, and your customers can payonline via paypal through a link they provide. It's really nifty!
