Well I ordered my new Case 430 yesterday. Should be here in two weeks.
Now I need some attachments.
I have about a 1/4 mile of gravel drive way to keep up.
What is going to be my best attachment for grading?
I wood like something that I can shape the road with.
Not just a box to drag around.
From what I have read the 6 way dozer blades don't seem to be very popular.
What about any of the grader attachments?
Are they a gimmick or can you really cut with them?
Or maybe a Tilt-Tach and some other attachment?
I am really kicking myself for selling my Huber Grader a couple of years ago
now that I am starting a side business with my new skid:hammerhead:
Well first off i want to know why you went with case. how much money are you looking to spend on attachments?

From what I have read they are one of the most reliable of the wheel machines.
It has great power, more than it can really put to use.
I really liked the 2 speed and ride control.
The new '08 machines have even more power and a pressurized cab.
I like running it better than the cat and last but not least they
are priced right.
I will probably put between 10 and 15 grand into attachments to get started.
I need a root grapple also.
Sounds good to me. A grader would be nice for your driveway i would think

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your Case! I really like the Case machines alot myself and if I couldn't have my Bobcat would want a 445 Case. I would recommend a box blade attachment for your skid steer to smooth your driveway. Similar looking to a Harley rake.

For grading driveways, get a land leveler attachment, it kind of looks a triangular box, has a blade in front that the cutting edge is horizontal, the back cutting edge is vertical, some have ripper teeth in the middle. Also great for removing dead and live grass, and leveling lawns.:cool2::cool2:

Thank you.
Is there a box blade that you can control the slope? or
can you use a tilt-tach with a box and get good results?
The only attachment I have ever used on a skid steer the few times I have
run one is a bucket, so I have no idea how any of these attachments work.
I am used to grading driveways with an Athey or Huber grader.

Yes, those look interesting also.
I will ask you the same thing.
Can you use one of these with a tilt-tach for sloping with good results?
I like the idea of having rippers on the attachment also.

I have it narrowed down to those two also.
I have not priced the bradco yet though.
The Quick Attach Eagle Tallon lookes really nice but I cant get over how much
they get for them.
Do you know how much the bradco 72" goes for?

I agree if I bought a wheeled machine Case would be way up their on my list. They are a great machine. Check out this site they have allot of attachments that people on Lawnsite have bought from and are very happy with the product and service.

Tilt tatch and "roadrunner" grader will fix up anything. Add a vibratory roller and you are in the road fixin' business!

Good choice on your new machine. YellowDog beat me to it, that Roadrunner attachment would be nice. Another option would be a land plane attachment, they are fairly cheap also.

Yes, the roadrunner was only about 2100 plus $75 delivered a few years ago. I like it though a tracked machine would be ideal for it as it is 7' wide and can push ALOT of road base with the double blades.

The roadrunner looks interesting. I have found a couple of others that
are similar. The Road Master, and Skid Steer Solutions also has a box grader.
Any one have any experience with these or any other brands that might be
out there?
Will these units actually dig up a pot hole or just fill them with gravel that they have managed to pull up off the road?
Our roads up here in the foothills get rutty and full of potholes this time of
year and I need to be able to cut these out to fix them properly.
I don't want to just fill them in.
Thanks for the for your input. This site is a great resource.

YellowDog.......have you used a roadrunner before? BacktoGood: if you are looking at boxscrapers make sure the box has enough depth to carry material. Some of the boxes are real shallow and are used more for just smoothing than smoothing and moving material - you need to have both. I have a 3 point box blade for my tractor that tilts up/down, right/left with a smoothing roller that runs behind it. I personally like the smoothing roller addition. I also run a tracked skid....what would be very nice on the skid (for the price) is a tilt-tach.....that would be most useful.

I use a Grade Master type device I made to maintian about the same length of gravel road. It is just another version of the Road Boss or Road Runner. It works great.

Have any of you seen or tried the Skid Master?

I don't need the laser but it looks like you might have some control
with slope.
