Plastic Tub Winter freeze

Hi,Should the water in those cheap plastic tubs be removed in the winter, then covered??

Reason I ask is some HO paid me to install a used tub they had in Sept
I just hate to see the cheap thing crack so fast along with getting blamed etc

My Dad built one of these pre-formed ponds last summer. He bought a heater that floats in the water and when it get to a certain temp the heater kicks on. The fish are still in it and doing fine. We live in Northwest Ohio which can have some very COLD winter temps. Hope this helps answer your question.

this is advise from canada where the water in the pond is sure to freeze!!! You must remove the fish and the water, then put plastic bottles (like 4 litre milk jugs) in the pond. Put some sand in the bottles, so they will sit on the bottom of the pond,and leave the caps on. This way when the snow melts and re-freezes if there is any expansion it will crush the plastic bottles.
