View Full Version : Bought a used 16' Trailer

I bought this 2004 Carry On 7'x16' open landscape trailer today. Cost $1500.
Took the tool box off because it gets in the way of making tight turns. Has brakes, break away kit and some racks. Tried the tool box on the truck just for kicks. Still have my 6'x12' open trailer that i plan on keeping. I'll get better pics of it hitched to the truck later.

Hey guys it snowed this morning but almost all of it melted by the time i took these pics. Where i bought it in NH there was 3 inches of fresh snow. Yes the tires are good and less than one season old.

Other than that looks good. Congrats.

So are saying yours hasn't been reliable?

Nah a trailer like this would cost more that that new here. My buddy bought a used 18' Big Tex trailer for $2600 last spring. This was the best deal i could find in my area and have a trailer that can be used tomorrow not drag it home and fix a bunch of things. Trailers cost more in the northeast because we aren't close to where most are manufactured in Texas and the midwest.
Nice trailor, I think it was a good deal. Good luck with it.
Thanks, i've been told by other local guys that i got a good deal. I didn't steal it but i also didn't lose my shirt.

yea, dont leave a regular sized toolbox on the trailer, when you try to back up in a really tight area, it dents your truck pretty good.

Welds are extremely poor quality, almost all the welds on the latch stystem for the gates have broken and had to be beefed up. The wiring had to be redone last year, not quite sure why it ever broke, cant say its definetely the fault of the trailer, but it definetely not the fault of the users. Brakes have held up well, and it pulls straight, recently the hub bearing mysteriously worked itself loose so we had to take it apart and tighten it. Overall I'd rate the trailer a 6 out of 10, not the worst but not the best, oh and the trailer is maybe around 2 years old. If you're just holding onto it for now until you get an enclosed you'll probobly be fine, I actually plan on getting an enclosed this year too. But yeah, it wont be a carry-on. Best of luck with it this upcoming season.

I've heard the same thing about the other trailer i have yet i havent had any problems with mine. Truth of the matter is there are so many brands and many of them aren't all that great. I appreciate the heads up and will be careful. I don't run large heavy ZTR's, just a Walker, midsize walkbehind and maybe Stander and i'm the only one who will be pulling the trailer. As of now everything works on it and i plan on just having it until i upgrade to an enclosed trailer.Thanks.

Yeah we still got some time till all the snow melts and things dry out.

Thanks. I'm not keeping the box in the truck, just wanted to see how it looked on it. My dump insert will be going back in soon.
When are you putting new letters on your truck?
I will get it lettered in the near future, hopefully in the next month or so. However i'm going to do very little lettering on the truck. I'm go to put fullsize lettered signs on the dump insert sideboards.

Yours doesn't seem any bigger than my as far as class weight goes. It might be longer because of the crew cab. Are you young or something because i dont really understand what you meen by looking legit in a big truck?

you dont like it huh, well if i do it im going to get the cat black system from GM so i can keep my warrenty i have talked to them quite alot about it and they say if it is a certified gm part it wont void it, But i think it will be cool i love the whisling sound coming out of the pipe it's 5'' pipe but ill put a nice 6'' tip on and it will look bad as hell.
i pulled up to a 08 the other day and we wernt racing but he had 6'' dual exaust and cold air intake and a blo off valve it was sweet
My freind's dad has a 05 cummins 3500 and he drove it to practice the other day and he wanted to race, I really dident want to because i had just chiped my elbow last practice but he really wanted to go he was just blowin smoke on me so i decited id had enuf of that goat next stop light i wasted that dodge 2 lenths before i got out of the intersection he really dident care because it's his dads truck with two chips in it and my d-max is bone:laugh: stock!

Where do you keep all of your stuff. From your pictures of your truck, your dads and your dads trailer, it looks like you're pretty packed in there. What do you do with your equipment, do you have a pole barn that you never showed us, or do you have "peeps" that let you keep your stuff at their shop.

If your asking me we have a storge garage but when were mowing i keep my trailer, truck, walker, small mowers, trimmers, ect at the house i really dont like it because when we get called to go do weed mowing we have to go to storage to get the john deere's i really want a shop but we havent found one that isnt over 1500 a month but were still lookin.

I should have wrote where do all of you who don't have a shop, but can't you buy some property build your own show how you want it, or won't the budget allow you too. Redmax where do you keep yours, from your pics it looks like it's really crowded at your house.

Yeah that would work but it would cost alot of money and i am gettin along fine
but it would be awesome to have a shop that i could pull my truck and trailer in.

What looks crowded about my house? Only got 1 enclosed trailer, 3 vehicles and 2 plows in the driveway:rolleyes::laugh:
I rent an outdoor area away from my house to park my trailers and stuff. My Dad and I are working on getting a shop where we can be based out of and keep everything in one spot. My driveway and property are a wreck because we havent renovated it yet. That should be started this spring and summer and it will be a complete overhaul when it happens.

Sorry, what was I thinking, I think you still got room for a camper too. Yeah a shop would probly do you good. Same for a lot of other people on here too. I just went and got my other tractor out today, and my garage is a mess, I piled all my john deere pieces onto the tractor. Stuff to change the oil, and the rest of garage stuff. The rest of my stuff is in the shed, and it's behind the patio chairs and what not. It's time to get that out, I want to clean everything up and get a pic of all my stuff.

We have 2 decent sized nice sheds on my property. I keep equipment in one of them and it has electricity, lighting and work bench etc. I'll get a fleet picture once everything is cleaned, tuned, painted and ready for action.
