Thats strange I've been doing some searches around the web and they are all saying 1.5, 2, and 2.5 and you must be able to see from 50 feet

Any body know what the penalty is for having a false number on your truck? I know a lot of guys just making up a number and putting it on their truck, I think they'll have there hands full if they get caught.

You can read 1" numbers/letters @ 50' Thats what I have.

False numbers is just stupid ... federal offense... can you say fines? license suspension? lawyer? Jail? driving illegally?

After all it is the FEDERAL MOTOR CARRIERS.

Yeah I would say its stupid but I know at least 6 people that have fake numbers I even know someone who put USDOT 1234567 on their truck and I'm talking semi's not little trucks, like that don't catch eyes.

Honestly, if I knew of a guy running a fake number, I would be very tempted to turn them in- that's BS!

I could not imagine how pissed a trooper would be if they found a guy with a fake number.

No I do all my own inspection stickers.

bishoplandscape

Nope I've always done my own except the one the dealer put on, I do one for the trailer too its easy just get the sticker packet and go through it.

You can get one at the Clyde Rd truck stop. There not that much.

I'm sorry I find that hard to believe..in CT it has to be done at a certified inspection station. If what you say is try and would hold up everyone would do their own:dizzy:

Plow works good I wouldn't care if we didn't have anymore snow, As for the inspection here goes you can even buy them online and I can give a link if you need. I have a stack of these you CAN do it your self grassbuster I know for a fact in Michigan and Georgia and I'm sure else where too. Here is the catch its an owner operator situation if your going to put a driver in it you do need to have it done.

that sucks, i was just getting ready to do my own inspections this year! Oh well looks like ive got to pay the piper again!
It also doesnt make any sence to make up DOT # cos i dont think it cost anything to get them

I called the local inspection place this morning and they never heard of such a thing as self inspections. He said that would just make the officier do a more complete inspection on site since I was not trained/qualified to do inspections reguardless of what a piece of paper says. Makes sense to me...:dizzy: I would'nt mind seeing these self inspections though.

well grassbuster our trucks in Michigan and our Georgia trucks both do our own inspections granted there new trucks as well, I was pulled over 3 times last year by a weigh master and guess what never had a problem with my inspection sticker and you can get one at any large truck stop across the country. Superior yes that's quite the DOT trap on 23 usually every time I go through there he already has someone. And i'm sure the local inspection place you refer to wouldn't know and as for wanting to see one they look almost the same.

http://www.roadtrucker.com/logbooks/3-part-annual-vehicle-inspection-reports.htm Here is a place you can get one. And as you saying not qualified to do it answer me this have you ever done a daily walk around a dump truck because there about the same. I never said the rules are the same in your state. But this information may be a bit out of your league. Have a good day!
