My dad wanted me to buy a tractor for his lawn business. He told me to get the John Deere 22-HP V-Twin Hydrostatic 42" Cut LA135 Lawn Tractor Model: BG20479 from Lowes. - 2210 (with bag) + tax

My question is: is buying a mower like a car do you have to be very carefull not to get ripped off buy people and get stuck with a lemon. I'm not sure what to do, do you guys advise just go with a brand new John Deere Tractor (which I would have to pay extra for the bag) or should i invest in a more powerful equpment which would give my dad everything he needs but it's used a year 2001/2. What do you advise. He has been in business for 1 year. He does mostly brick patios and landscape design. If you advise I go with the used model, what kind of good questions can I ask the owner or checks can i do on the machine?
