I'm having the hardest time trying to find some pretty common Generac engine parts for a generator. I've called just about every small engine shop up here around Chicago, the only thing I can get up here is that Generac was bought out by Briggs and they discontinued the parts support. Does anyone know of anyplace that stocks some engine parts, specifically valve cover gaskets and other PM items?
Specifically I'm looking for these models
4000XL - 7.8HP - Engine Model # 09777-2
4000EXL - 7.8HP - Engine Model # 01645
Thanks in advance!

Sometime back, I was doing a bit of research on B&S and Generac generators. It turned out that at least some of the various models were IDENTICAL!
What I would do, is go to the Briggs website and look at the various owners manuals for 4000 watt generators and see if yours happens to be one of them. Once you identify it as a Briggs model (if it is) you can go in that direction.

It'll be a bit tedious, but....

I found both your model numbers in my Briggs dealer's parts look-up but didn't at the Briggs consumer site, So it's possible Briggs is handling these common parts.
You can down-load parts breakdowns from here;
http://www.generac-portables.com/service_support/owner_manuals/owner_manuals.cfm
Then contact your local Briggs dealer with the part numbers, They will more than likely need to call their Briggs supplier to see if they are available.
