Who here has added Strobe Lights or LED Warning Lights on There Enclosed Trailer?..Anyone have pic's of them and how they did it?..If I do put some on my trailer they will probably be LED do to the fact that they draw less power.
Thanks.

Make sure they are off when you drive, you'll get a ticket.

There was a guy on plowsite that had like 6" round led strobes for 30 or 50 bucks new. Those would be easy to install.
That would be the way to go, they're normally just 2 or 3 wire and have the flash pattern built into them.

I plan to this summer at some point when we get an anticipated drought or something....my idea would be to keep the power pack in the truck to keep the wiring simple and easy up front, then run one strobe cable to the back of the truck and either let it hang or put a weather proof plug on it. Then run the opposite end down the trailer to the light in the back...this would obviously be for hideaway strobe heads...
LEDs would be easy too, same senario, just do all your normal wiring up front and just run a long cable with a weather proof plug in the middle.
The only differences between putting the light in the truck and in the trailer are the length of cable and the fact that you would put a plug in the middle. Would look factory if done up right!
JMO on this!

I have known more than one company in my area to have a car drive into their trailer while parked on a 25MPH residential street.
In regards to the original question, a couple of Whelen LIN4's would do the ticket and it would be very, very simple. I assume you have interior lights in your trailer already. An extra switch and a little wiring and you are all set.
The LEDs would be the way to go since they are all self contained, no separate power unit or additional wiring needed. Low draw so you could pull power form anywhere, and the would surface mount nicely to the back of the trailer.

I have put strobes , arrow sticks on my trailers. you run a switch from truck to power line on 7 prone trailer now if you have inside lights on trailer tape into that wire before wall swich. put swich on in trailer for flashers so you can have inside lights on but no flashers. I biult lightbars and light up plow trucks all the time its a pain the first time but than its simple....

Believe it or not, I got a hassle last year from code enforcement in a local city here. I always put out 2-3 legal cones, but this guy was an a$$. He said I needed some sort of warning light on the back of my trailer.
Been putting it off, but gonna put a couple of amber LED's on the back. Haven't run into that CE guy yet this year.

whats a legal cone.. i find it funny NJ is so anal on everything, in ALL the years with ALL the trucks i've had and ive been doing this ive never been stopped or said anything too about warning lights.. i think a lot of people come up with this excuse to redeem themselves about having 18 strobe lights on a truck sitting on the side of the road cutting grass.. when we do our state work with the NJDOT they require one strobe light on each vehicle and we are working on 65mph roads!
ps, keep in mind im a NJ certified traffic control coordinator and probably know more than any of these local code enforcement guys you come across..

Legal cone as in 36" height.
Trust me, I have no desire to put lights on ANYTHING I own except for safety (primarily my own). I'm sure there are plenty of whackers out there that want lights just to have them. Me...I'm a tight-wad, I look at it as more money spent.
Also, it really doesn't matter what certification you hold in New Jersey. What matters is that these guys in GA can either write me a ticket or make life rough. It is a city ordinance that no vehicle may be parked on a city street (except a licensed emergency vehicle). There is an exemption that a vehicle displaying cones and amber warning lights visible within 100' may do so.

i agree, thats the point i was getting at really.. the snow/lawn guys are driving around with a 2g led light bar, hidden strobes, leds, etc.. with so many lights it hurts to look at, but yet they say its for safety...

Here is what I have set up.
Two Whelen Tir3's. It takes two wires. Run them to your junction box in your trailer, find the AUX and the Ground
I hope to add two more sets down the sides as I get some more money to do that.

Just an FYI, which you already may be aware of, but do not mount the standard TIR3's vertically (which I am assuming you might do when mounting down the sides). They do make a vertical mounting TIR3 though where the reflector is different.
