DLCS, when I worked at a motorcycle shop we used to have this stuff for cleaning chrome..I cannot remember its name, but it came in a tin can and looked like dryer lint. It had some type of polish in the lint and you would tear pieces of it off and rub it on the chrome...whatever it was it really worked great.

Man, I just get lint in there.... My guess is that if you are getting rust dissolving jelly in there, you need to work on personal hygiene.:laugh:

navel jelly, remember seeing this stuff used yrs. ago when worked as a machinist. think was suppose to treat the metal from rusting up or something (big shop), it was pink in color and heavy water proof gloves were used, pretty strong stuff.

LT -- I used needle nose pliers for belly button lint and nose hair:laugh:.

We use Naval Jelly on the floors of our truck beds. It dissolves the rust caused by our fertilizers, and once it dries, the beds are ready to paint. (no need for primer). We also use it on rust specks on bumpers, rusty mower decks, etc.

Great stuff that has been used on naval vessels for decades. We buy ours at Northern Tool & Equipment. Comes in small white plastic cans (we apply it with a small paint brush), but I hear it's now available in a spray. It's cheap, and its good. (probably on ebay by now too)

I definitely need to get some. I have a rusty bed, I also have some steel benches that are rusting up. Does it remove the paint too?

Hi LT --- Nope, it does not remove paint or any good remaining metal. Seems it only attacks corrosion. It's also available on ebay. Good stuff. Larry

When I was in the Navy we never used that crap, wonder why they call it that?
We did use Nevr-dull for brass and some quad-aught (0000) steel wool works real good on metals too.
Triple-aught is fine for certain steels but I believe very fine (quad-aught) you can even use on glass!

Anyhow, if you didn't know, aught = 0, the number of aughts on the steel wool package determines it's grit, the finer the grit the more zeroes it has and the higher grade polishing you can do with it. I believe 000 triple-aught is fine and should work on most steels then 4x0 quad aught is very fine and there might even be very very fine but I don't know. 000 to 0000 is what I use for most things, start with the finest and always test in a inconspicuous area first to make sure it doesn't scratch.

Brass-O is another one, turtle wax works good for paints.

They did mention polishing, now that really got me wondering ...

The nose hair omg I pull that crap out with my fingers but boy it gets some tears going in my eyes, then there's ear hair grrr.
