Mowing Slopes

A few times a year we mow the slopes around ponds. We encounter small saplings, etc. We have rented a billy goat in the past, although I feel like it is not the safest thing out there. Any advice on a good brush cutting mower for slopes? We picked up some contracts and we are looking to inverst in a mower.
