Yea i know i just got the x540 this fall and put a 47" snow blower on there for snow removal. I am in the process of looking for a new John Deere 72" have to hear back from a few jobs yet before i buy one though. Thanks for the encouragement!

02Duramax why does it matter?...i read 3 threads here in the picture section and everyone you are bad mouthing him when he says nothing to you. He's 15, why should he have his own equipment when he works for his dad? See the Kreft and Son in the name, he's the son...

i don't own the equipment i operate, is there a problem with that?

I never had a problem with him and don't..I have worked for people to but i don't go around saying it's my equipment when i know its not...He first said it was his dads equipment and then try to say its his...Other than that His dad has great equipment and they take very good care of it.

what difference does it make if its my dads or mine? if i was working for a stranger and said it was mine that would be different but if i helped my dad with the company ground up what difference does it make?

looks good. i have to agree with duramax use what u have and make some $$ and then sell the lawn tractors and buy a good z, you will be faster and more efficient. not putting u down. i ran a lawn tractor for the first year until the engine went. i dont think a 72 inch is a good all arround mower. too big. but thats me. good luck.

yup..If you do get one go with a 52" or a 61"..a 72" is not good unless you have alot of open field to mow...

andy'slawncare
03-31-2008, 10:51 PM
Yea i just put in a bid for a local town which would include mowing around 60 acres of grass. So going to need a big mower for that. If i don't win that bid later in the year probably trade in toro lawn tractor for a John Deere 820.

I bought the z plug used last august from a guy here on the lawnsite. The machine has been working great so far. I got all the attachments for it besides the snow plow. I am looking to get a zspray probably this summer if the money keeps coming in. I will use the cummins in the summer months to pull the trailer. The ford dump gets to bad of fuel mileage to be driving around all over the place.

I'm in the same pickle with my Ford, sucks the gas like crazy. Burns a whole tank pulling the trailer for a day.

how do you like your 830A? I'm thinking about adding the bagging unit to mine

andy'slawncare
04-08-2010, 01:28 PM
So far so good with the 830. I have heard so many bad things about them but mine has been pretty good. When the bagger is on it shows a little lack of power but not to bad. The bagger attachment was pretty expensive buy but helps cut down on how many times i have to dump the grass out.

Good to hear. Is your steering touchy? Do you remember how much the bagging system runs for these machines

looks like the x540 is still going strong i think im gonna pick me up an old lawn tractor sometime this summer just to pull around the yard trailer and dethatcher

andy'slawncare
04-08-2010, 06:43 PM
The bagger and all the attachment pieces run around $2,500- $3,000. The x540 has about 300hrs on it now and still works great all I have done is changed oil. So far my John Deere equipment has run great and the dealer support is awesome so for now I am staying a GREEN fan.

Looks great. Fill me in on your z plugger, how do you like it? Is it a pretty good money maker, I have been kicking it around but I dont know if it will make a good return for what it will cost, I found a used one with like 600 hrs for around $4000 but like I say its up in the air. Let me know how its working for you. Everything looks good , like the bobcat too

I had the xls put on in late December so only used it a few times. It's a heavy plow for the front of a 3/4 ton pickup but cut my plowing times down.

Yeah, that'll hurt the fuel bill. But on the bright side, you have a dump truck!
