I have been working in the industry for over a decade and have finally decided its time to step out on my own. I think im pretty well versed in most of the labor id be offering and have a business history in college. One thing that i greatly lack experience with is estimating bids. Is there a formula that you use? Based on man hours or lawn size? how do you compensate for steep hils, excessive tress ackwardly spaced beds that dont allow the mowers through etc...

thank you for you time. any advice is helpful.

better to not get a job than loose or work for nothing.
I get 50% up front which covers all material and labor and the other 50% when finished and they are happy.
Big or small that's the deal, if they say no I thank them and offer my services to them in the future if they need any of my services.
I don't brake down costs the price is take it or leave it , no hiden charges.
I will make money and there is enough added in for the what if's.
It took along time for me to get it through my head that I wasn't the one with the messed up yard.
