I am in the process of upgrading my computer. I am looking for a better software system to use. I now (and for the past 8 years) use Proventure for invoicing. I have narrowed it down to Gopher and LawnPro. I am looking for any thoughts and comments for these 2.

Me too. I've used the free trail of gopher and liked the general set up. No trial for lawn pro though. Any thoughts??
I have gopher pro. It works for me...but they haven't upgraded, since 2004 if memory serves me correct. It is reported that it doesn't work with windows vista.
Good luck, Tony

Maybe this is just on basic, but I used Gopher 2006 for the trial. Same thing ?

I have gopher software and love it. I got a free trial from lawnpro and never loaded it after trying gopher.

Im getting rid of my gopher and going to groundskeeper this summer.
Gopher is just not cutting it. Its to pedestrian and there are to many glitches.

Lawn Pro here... for the money it's good. I'm just to lazy to use 'everything' it has to offer.
I just print the bill and send it out. Don't really get into the scheduling part of it.

I just installed the trial for Gopher. I'm fairly impressed with all the features. A few things that I would like to see:
1. The ability to create and save templates (contracts, marketing material, etc).
2. The ability to keep track of where the customers are coming from.
3. The ability to upload docs to customer files. It would be nice to keep a copy of the contract with the client info all in one program.
4. It would be nice to track the amount of time spent on a job, and generate a report.
Just a few things I think are lacking.

Just a few things I think are lacking.
1) As far as the contracts go look under ESTIMATES. I know its not the same as a contract but you can have a line added to the estimate where the client signs it.
2) In each individual customer file there is a spot where you can keep notes about them. Thats about it.
3)Beats me...
4)As far as time spent...when you print your daily route sheets up there are spaces on there where you can write the time down. Again thats about it.
I liked GOPHER when I got it but the more I used it the more underpowered I realized it was.
Been using lawnpro for over a year now love it.... No problems at all. I did download the free trial of gopher looked good. Very happy with lawnpro I use 2.27 this is my favorite version.

Southern - Have you sent this list to the Gopher people?? Don't know if it will get implemented, but at least they have the opp.. I can't remember for sure, but I think there's a place for "time on lawn" in the customer file. Could be wrong though.

ffemtmcd,
Lawnpro does have a trail. I downloaded it the other day. It only allows you to use it for 5 invoices.

Yes, I sent it over. They sent an email back saying that they are not currently updating, however it's possible that the suggestions would be added in a later verison. =)

Groundskeeper I didn't like - not user friendly and too cartoonish -
I checked lawnpro site and couldn't find a free trial - do you have the link??

I have been using lawnpro but I am thinking bout switching. I am having a very hard time getting support now. I use to be able to call and I could talk to Patrick. Now he wont pick up and all I can do is submit a ticket. I do not like not having phone support. The program seems to have a lot of little issues that can get annoying sometimes. There is a new version out that is the 3.0 but it runs very slow as of now and they said they were working on that. Right now I use the 2.27. One of the issues I had was today for some odd reason all my contracts show that 0 of 12 have been invoiced. So now I have no clue how many contract invoices are left to be billed or how many have been billed. I have yet to figure out a way to fix this. So I am stuck with 150 customers and I dont know where they stand on their invoice. Still waiting for some support on this issue. Currently I am looking for another program...
