View Full Version : Why can't someone fix lawnsite!?

I know this has been posted many times but maybe enough post will get some attention. I know LS is free but the slowness has made it almost impossible to even get to it. I try to get here, you wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, scratch your head, go fix a drink, come back, go fix a sandwich and then if you are lucky the site MAY appear. Every page downloads with the speed of a slug in reverse, and my biggest gripe is when you try to reply to a post, type out a reply, hit submit, and...... you wait, and wait, and wait then get the server is to busy or nothing happens and you lose your reply. Come on techs, this has been a great site and there has got to be a way to solve this problem! This is a great site when is used to work right.

Kinda funny .....at this time it is running better than it has been for weeks...at least at this time. I almost decided to move on it was so bad last week.

This has been the worst week for me for the past 2 months. I will be surprised if this reply even goes through.

It just took 6 minutes exactly for the 2nd page to load for me. I know it is free, but come on.

What's odd, is that for me, everything is running at good speed. When i click on a thread it pops up quick. Most of my replies go up pretty fast. But what's driving me nuts is that I scroll through a page of threads, then click on the next page, whatever that number is, and it just won't go. Just sits here laughing at me. I click and click, but waiting is the only solution. why can everything else work ok, but the next page command sends it into lockup?

I've never had a problem with the site loading, moving from section to section or uploading an answer. Could your problem be with your own server ?
I generally check the posts three or four times a day. Early in the morning 4:00 to 5:00 AM , later about 9 or 10 AM, mid afternoon and in the evening. No problems at any of those times.
I am using Suddenlink Cable (formerly Cox Cable) .

Nosmo -- I'm on Comcast cable and have the same types of problems ... so i seriously doubt that it's because of server issues on the user end !!

Well I can only guess that it is the IP server or possibly your firewall slowing things down. When I leave my IP blocker running -- Proto Wall -- It takes a long time to load up Lawn Site too.
Some may ask what are you using an IP blocker for --- protection when downloading from copyrighted material sights. eg Movies

I just tried coming to LS and the first 2 tries were not successful, first time page was just blank white and the second time was able to get here but when clicking the new post icon, back to the slug in reverse going uphill mode. I then tried 3 "other " lawncare sites that opened with blazing speed. I may be wrong but still say its on LS's end. The thrid time I got here but took nearly a minute for the page to open.

Very doubtful, When this board doesn't pop right up while I'm surfing/posting I say F-it and click on a couple others (I keep minimized anymore) and they pop right up and move right along.
Don't even want to go off on the number of replies lost from this.....

i do not know a lot of things but i dont have the problems every body else has. for me lawnsite is as slow as everywhere else i go so for me no difference. being in multiple staes we aLL GET HERE DIFFERENTLY. MAYBE THE NUMBER YOU GUYS ARE DIALING IS DIFF AND CROWDED. if it helps i will pay a nice monthly or yearly fee to be here smoothly

I am using aol and Foxfire to search. The forum is zipping along all morning. I would think if it were the server then I would be effected too. No freeze ups and no slow loads for me all morning. So its not effecting everybody and thats the problem with coming up with a solution on LS end. Like I suggested to you was to try Foxfire. I try different things on different forums if I have a problem. I have had problems on other forums similar to yours here

Personally I only experience problems with the pages loading when I click the 'New Posts' link and when trying to navigate to the next,or previous, page in a thread. It would interesting to see what the code behind the scenes when you click these links.

I don't think we're talking about a dial up problem or overloading a dial up server . The one's having a problem say they are on cable connections which is the fastest option (faster than DSL or Satellite) as I have been told.
Contrary to what a person may have been told a loaded down cable connection can be slow loading up on websites. I guess I am one of the luckier Lawn Site members because I have never had problems with getting on the site, moving from forum to forum or bringing up attachements etc. and I visit several times daily.

As Charles said, we're working on the problem. We made several changes in the past few days to improve how the site works during peak times.
On Monday, the site should have worked fine for the most part, except the search feature and new posts.
Starting now, new posts should also work fine. The search feature will require more work since it's not always easy for the server to search over 2,000,000 posts. We'll keep monitoring the server and reviewing our options to improve the search feature to see what's the best thing that we can do with it.

Pierre-Luc

This seems to be true. As I said in an earlier post, everything seems to work except "New Posts", now even that is working! :clapping::clapping:
Let's hope people come back soon, it's been slow (not a lot of posts) the last day or 2, I think a lot of people got frustrated.

I just got here and the the new post worked until I tried to go to page 2 or 3 then it did nothing. Tired to post a reply and also could not but thanks for trying to fix anyway. Its funny it works fine for some and not for others. I used to have no problems at all.

What's causing problems? The first page of new posts or the following pages?
QualityLawnCare4u

I get here and its slow to open but can usually get in eventually. If I click the search feature it does nothing, page will not change or anything. If I click on new post same thing, page does not change just click click. This is different from the problems I was having yesterday, page would change but freeze up or just stay blank white.

New posts button is not working right... I click it after being gone all day and I get the "The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts."
I live by the new posts button... and when I get this they are kinda random, and usually the ones I didn't look at in the first place.

We now use a new system to perform searches on the site. That should improve the search feature and overall site performance.
We'll keep monitoring the server in the next few days to see how it performs with the new search system.

I just searched mower and got 394 pages of it:dizzy: If you go to advanced search you have to put it in on the left side. You probably know that but... I have used both today and they both work. Dunno why some can and some can't use it. A mystery for Plsoucy the Tech:confused:
