Seeing as how I hate travelling to Burnaby, big brother and his "foreman" decided to rent this hideous Power Tan thing:

So like the shmuck I am, I decide to take a closer look at the Power Tan 90XT. They sure have big beefy tilt pin bushings:

But the cab looks so small and cramped, and those "joysticks", yuck!

Hey, the view ain't so bad?!
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p217/bobcat_ron/Pictures629.jpg

And I can see the rear wheels!

Wow! The rear visibility is good too!

Ah screw it, I still like my Cat better though.

That poor thing looks like it's had a rough life. I've rented some 90XTs and they had boom slop but they will work.

Did you push any dirt with the 90XT? I have never owned one, but have run them on occasion. They are a horse. Helleva dirt mover.

There was no key in it and when I tried to get in the cab for the first time, the joy sticks kept "poking" me in the area no man should ever get "poked". :hammerhead:

I have only used them for snow plowing, loading sand/salt and unloading pallets. Someday I hope to get a 90xt/450.

Hell's bells, that "poking" sensation felt oddly like the feeelings I got with the old T190 every time it "piddled" a little after a demo job!

On the newer models like the 440 the joysticks would pivot out when you raised the seatbar to give you some more room.

The bigger machines don't do that and I don't remember if the Series 3 machine did on the 465. My current 465 doesn't. The 90XT is an 03 model.

That machine looks pretty rusty it either sits alot near salt air or its been used for moving rock salt.

Close, it just sits a lot, so does the trailer that it came hauled on, brand new 24' 24,000 GVW with only 200 kms on it, such a shame, so I've been told it's for sale, but it's a tad to heavy (weight and GVW) for my truck.

Ron what do you mean that trailer is too heavy, you have a 450 don’t you?

I had a look at the pictures that is a tandem dual so it would be a heavy trailer. You load that up to its max gvw that would be a pretty good Jag for a F-450. You definatly would want vacuum over hydraulic brakes.

Imagine going down Boundary Road hill with that trailer fully loaded behind a F-450 that would be some puckering moments. Or going down the cut in North Van

Maybe Ron can be a power tan convert I know Parker Pacific will make Ron some good deals

I figure it’s better to have the extra capacity even if you don’t use it, the trailer brakes and suspension bushings last longer when you’re not heavy.

It’s best to avoid Boundary hill with any loaded truck, people pass the truck then brake hard to merge at the bottom.

My current trailer weighs in at 4400 lbs empty, it feels a little heavy when pulling it around, but the Powerstroke still loves it, the trailer in the first pic weighs in at 7200 lbs empty, I would be pulling around almost another 1 1/2 tons just to get the equipment around, that's even more fuel I use and this 5 speed automatic in the truck is already leaking oil when it gets hot enough, no drips yet, but there is a huge amount of weeping on the seals between the transmission and engine. The 21 foot trailer I am wanting is just over 6000 lbs empty, that's perfect.

The BD Performance Exhaust Brake I installed 3 years ago makes a massive difference......................when it works.

Oh you mean I'am not the only one frustrated with a BD brake

I have one on my 03 F-450 it works okay but it doesn't operate like it is supposed to. I have to manually operate it using the selector switch which is pretty much a two speed axle selector on the gear shift (6spd). I have had to replace the air cylinder it didn't work. The brake controller thing really doesn't work.

My system works only when the exhaust is actually hot enough, more than 20 minutes of driving, other than that, the compressor, auto lock and all switches and relays for the EGR work fine, but that damn butter fly valve doesn't want to move.
