How about a 2008 thread for lame or good onsite photos?
Yesterday, split copper call. then I opened the boxes. Upper right was the original. 3 RB Dvs, 2 for front and one drip. Other 4 valve manifold is for the back, Rainbird and Hunter valves, primer all over everything. Upper left valve is drip.
Then the real nice one with a RB ESP outdoor controller in a 10" round box. This zone goes to the water feature, add at a later time. The 8 station controller in basement is of course full from the other zones. I asked H/O about an extension cord for this, and he looked confused. Then said he just occasionally opens by hand at the turn on thing (solenoid). Real nice set up.......
A lot of these homes get front yard installed by builder, and the back gets added on later by another company of H/Os choice. Which is why it gets all hodge podged together.

that must be one of those home depot jobs, where you send in the layout of your yard and they send it back on how to install and design the job.

Another '07, sorry. PVB was in backwards for two years, Never dumped. The guts (poppet and check valve) had been intentionally jammed up, and this had never dumped for her. BUT, yes we did flip it back. It was also for an underground Netafim system, not that it matters, just sayin'.

No photo yet, but I repaired an older '70s system today that we've worked on for 8 years or so. Poly pipe had an 18"+ split due to either freezing or age. It also had a 6"-8" split. Never seen poly split 18" before.

The poly might have been "scored" (scratched) during the original pull, and that made a weak spot. Took 35 years +/- for it to split.

Is that done so to use an earth-ground common, thus adding an extra zone to the multi-strand wire harness?

How come no drain though? I know we use them in cold weather areas for draining to prevent damage, but a drain is nice for working on the valve when it sticks or has debris inside making it seep.

Kind of blurry pic. This is a top of the line LawnMate 7. Inside a wall, withing a towel closet. Very bad rest of the system too. I don't think I will work this one again unless they upgrade controller, manifold, heads. Of course, it's a rental.

I've seen the LawnMate on some nice systems. Not too bad a timer. Bad location though. A remote would solve that problem.

Story here was that this one head on a customers zone hasn't worked well for years. Said the head has been replaced twice. Head would hardly popup at all while the others worked fine on this zone. So, I take the 5 minutes to dig up to the lateral and find this nice saddle tee mess with a hole thats about the size of a 1/8" drill bit.

Another story from a local jdl counter guy...........
A contractor went to check on a system for a homeowner. The sprinkler installer had tee'd into the sump pump piping system thats installed in some basements around here, instead of the homes water supply. I guess the system never worked. Wonder why?

Stock MPs to do overhauls. In one hour you can renozzle 15-20 heads and make some extra service call money on material plus get a very impressed customer.

I don't think I ever posted this one. I have worked on it for 4-5 years now. She has the four because she needed a DELAY in between stations. Hmmmm.... maybe some controller company could implement one into the controller. :) Believe me, I've tried to get her to change to one controller. She is fine with how it works. I deal with it.

Is that greenish gunk on the wall the start of moss growing? Soon you will hav eto charge a bit extra to comb those 4 controllers and/or give them a "hair cut".

We started with RB rotators. I felt the higher app rate would be better and they do look better. Unfortunately the nozzle choices are limiting and it has different speeds depending on the pressure. As I've been using the MPs more and more I've become very satisfied with them. The left and right strips are really nice. The precip rate though is lower than stated for us. I'll measure with the catch cans and I'm usually at .3-.5 inches per hour. I will only use them if I know a customer is comfortable having his zones run for 45+ minutes. One reason I like the WM SL because I can just dial in the app rate and it will make the adjustments. We've done some pretty amazing water saving overhauls with MPs. Houses that used to just flood the curb in 10 minutes barely show signs of water in the street and where you don't want it. I've had some really nice complements from customers. I tend to use more 2000s. Henry my other service guy is more partial to the 1000s. A lot of times I'll show up to his job and ask him to swap this one and that one to a 2000 just to get more water on the yard even though with 15' spacing the 1000s should do the job.

She has done the replacing, and t least two of them are very early ESPs. No problems with them. I was out working at her place when the tornado hit northern Colorado yesterday. Windy as an SOB where she was. I had to wait it out for about 15 minutes. She had heard on the TV about the tornado so we both kind of decided to hold off for a few.

Has anyone used any of the Weathermatic SL1600 or 800's? We like 'em because the dual-voltage transformer makes for a cleaner pump and well control installation. They have a per-zone master-valve delay built-in, and seem to take lightning as well as anything else out there.
