Anyone know a good tree under 12 feet fully mature that will not erode from a slope and wont damage foundation by being approximately 3 feet from a very nice stone patio and 3 feet on the other side a wood privacy fence.

The customer was mentioning Arborvitaes... will this evergreen damage foundation and would it be safe to plant on a slope of course digging down deep enough?

I was thinking of a Patio Peach but any ideas are welcome....

Then would Phlox be a good recommendation to plant o na slope to contain some water heard it before not sure if it actually works?

Thanks

Arbs generally have small root balls, even mature. That's what comes to mind off the top of my head, its a tough space though for such a small rooting area...

the thing that sucks about it is not only to worry about foundation(root bowls) but alot of water will drain because they will be planted on a somewhat steep slope

If you are talking about the upright phlox that can spread quite a bit which would be good for erosion control. The more roots you have in the soil the more likely it is to stay in place.
