Getting ready to buy 6' Harley rake but have noticed that some drums have carbide teeth while others have a flat raised bar on their drum. I have found someone local selling a rake with the raised bar design ( has 10hrs on it for $4500.00 ) but have never used this type. Anyone used this style? Little concerned that it will not be good for renovation work? Any info would be great.

Stick with a Harley brand or made rake if you are smart. The newer Harleys all use Carbide teeth.

Stick with the carbide tooth set up. The bars are hardened steel and will wear out in the not too distant future. The carbide will last you forever and do a better job of pulverising the soil and seperating it when the ground is wet.

Nortec up here in Wisconsin makes a good rake that uses carbide teeth as well. The teeth aren't rounded buttons like the Harley instead they are pointed. I think they call their rakes the Pirahna. I do know that they are very competitive in pricing to Harley.
