View Full Version : How does the Fuel pump work on a Kawasaki 14hp engine?

;) Just wondering because I have to pour a little gas in the carb evertime I want to start the engine. Then it runs great but just wont start unless I pour gas in carb.

Possibly the throttle cable has slipped in its clamp so that it's not fully closing the choke butterfly valve?

I'm having the same issue, except the valve does close on mine. Think the pump's bad?

There's no pump on these - it's all gravity feed. That's why the gas tank is higher than the carb on the mowers. Chances are that your choke plate is not closing all the way too.

I guess it is a 13 hp Kawasaki now that I think about it. It does have a pump though. It's a 2001/02 Ferris Hydro Walk Behind

It does have a pump though.

Remove the fuel line from the carb, Hold a container under the line and crank the engine over. It should pump fuel into the container if it's working.
