The hex cells seem awfully large to effectively reduce glare.

I was skeptical myself but trust me when you see it in action you feel like you can put this light anywhere now and not see glare.

IMO, this new louver is a good place to gather debris...

It is very possible. But remember it is only an option. There can be some give and take here but it is just an option we feel provides those who are very concerned with seeng the lens glare. Reality is those who speak out the most about it are using deeply shrouded fixtures that too allow lots of dirt, debris, and water to buid up in. So as long as you are maintaining your projects it should be a good sacrafice in terms of design and glare.
